I'd have to agree with the very fluffy roller. But if that popcorn texture is really delicate, be prepared for a lot of it to come off in your face as you paint! Even if you go with a spray gun, you'll still knock off a lot of those tiny balls. They really aren't made to be painted, only to look at. Whoever invented that stuff never took into account that some day it may need painting. That's why I generally hate all kinds of textured or stucco finishes. They are not only tough to paint, but really rough to touch or bump into.

Use a very fluffly roller, meant for deeply textured ceilings, but cover everything, because the popcorn WILL come off. I think I'd rather NOT scrape it, WAY too messy. If it were me, I'd get rid of it by covering the ceiling with a new one, and painting that one, it would actually be alot less work.

sure you can but you have to keep moving put on a light coat and let it dry then recoat. as you paint the paint wets through the plaster that is mixed with the popcorn. This loosens the bond to the substrate. with more agitation it comes loose and falls off. use any of the mentioned rollers but don't worry about coverage the first go-round.

believe me, years down the line once you have painted your acoustic to extra healthful your style now, you will remorseful approximately it. it incredibly is often suited to go away the acoustics because it grew to become into synthetic. evaluate engraving your call or a undeniable layout on the plate cover of the truss rod and go away it at that. i do no longer advise carving your call or initials on the field the two. in the experience that your acoustic is junk and better as a planter then paint it up.

Yes, you can do either, or. We did but it isn't easy. Once it's done it looks nice. Popcorn, you might have to spray it on quite thick to cover, try it first.

Yes, you can. You can purchase sponge paint roller sleeves (they have slits in them) that work perfectly on uneven surfaces.
