My son injured his big toe at camp two weeks ago and his nail has detached from the nail bed. It's still attached at the back and along the sides (I think). We've been covering it with a guaze bandage and it hasn't fallen off yet. Should we continue to protect it or let it come off. I heard if you take it off too soon you can cause the cuticle to close and a new nail will not form. He plays ice hockey and wants to play a pick up game tonight. I'm afraid it will cause the nail to come off completely.

Four days ago my son accidentally came down with his knee in the center of my stomach, to where I almost passed out from the pain. After that I was in a lot of pain, but I thought it would go away. Since then I get very dizzy and my stomach is now swollen almost twice the size as normal. I have stomach pain that stays with me , but sometimes it is so excruciating I am not sure what to do.

Its hot around both bones, my toes are really cold and numb at the tip, there is a little swelling and it hurts to just put it flat, and its even worse when I stand on it, and he had a hard time finding a pulse on the top of my foot too. So he gave me advil and put a warp on it and thats it, but it hurts so bad...does that sound right?

maybe meniscus tear. After two weeks of physical therapy, knee still hurts, feel like some lead weight inside there. Originally unstable when hurt two weeksa ago. Feels sore when walking. Is orthroscopic surgery the only way to fix this? I'm doing exercises to strengthen the area about the knees. Some arthritis on x-ray, no MRI yet.

My husband cut his forearm at work and had to have six stitches. The doctor that saw him didn't give him any aftercare. In fact, all he did before hand was wipe the wound off with some alcohol pads. What should he be cleaning it with? Should he keep it covered with a bandage all the time? Is there anything else that he should be doing?

I see a blured white cloud in my eye. should I be worried? I go to a specialist tomorrow and I'm a bit worried. I don't want this cloud in eye for the rest of my life.

I sprained my ankle about a month and a half ago, it isn't healing and i keep going over on it. The hospitals and doctors are offering no help, just keep sending me in for more xrays trying to find a fracture, which there is none. I've stretched the ligaments in my ankle and do not have the time to let it heal fully as I'm working daily. I'm wondering if anyone has some excercises that that they've used to help give their ankles strength again after bad injuries. I could lose my job if I don't figure something out to be able to walk without randomly have my ankle give out. Thanks.

In Jan. 2005, I was in a head-on collision deemed the fault of the other driver. They have $20,000 injury insurance and my medical bills to date total slightly more than that. I have until Jan. 21, 2007 to settle or file a lawsuit. I am still in pain after several months of physical therapy and one surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. I've had all kinds of tests done, and the only thing anyone can come up with is TOS. The surgery fixed the tingling on the side I had done, but now my hand gets cold and my shoulder and neck hurt when I use them a lot or stand for any longer than 15-20 minutes. I don't want to do the other side because the side I had done has some adverse side effects. Is the pain ever going to go away? What's my next step? Do I talk to more doctors or do I accept that I may hurt forever? Is future pain worth anything in a lawsuit? Is it worth hiring a lawyer or should I try to negotiate a settlement myself? Anyone have good results with alternative medicine?

After running hard for the first time in a while my knee and lower right leg hurt a bit. After a week all that has remained is an annoying popping in my knee every once in a while. It doesn't really hurt but it's very uncomfortable. Should I see a doctor? What can I do myself to fix this?

I am an avid skiier, I have been doing it since i was five years old. I am a slolomn skiier who has had many rough wipe outs including an open gash on the side of my head.......I had tried tubing when i was a teenager and even thought i thought it was fun i thought it was too rough and didnt take a whole lot of skill. Well my boyfriend talked me into tubing on the 4th and i wiped out big time and i had a major pain on the right side of my chest which is the side that i hit and it hurts for me to breathe, move my right arm at times and I can only lay on my back or my affected side (with extreme caution) for me to get out of bed i have to plan my exit and try baby movements to get out! What do you think and what can i do to alleviate my pain....Ibuprofen is not working.

Okay so I was recently in a car accident, I just went to an MRI this past Friday. I just go the report today, but it was an over the phone explanation, and they did say I have to go to the orthopedic but I just want to know how bad this is, and what exactly it means. They said on my lumbar spine it has a herniation and a protrusion, and they said on some other part not sure, if it is cervical or thoricic, but they said I have 3 swollen disc. How severe is that, what is the normal treatment, and what does it mean?
