After running hard for the first time in a while my knee and lower right leg hurt a bit. After a week all that has remained is an annoying popping in my knee every once in a while. It doesn't really hurt but it's very uncomfortable. Should I see a doctor? What can I do myself to fix this?

popping knee = meniscal problem.
usually discoid meniscus.
dont hurt it unless it hurts you,
if it hurts, it has torn- show an arthroscopist- a good one.
requires a lot of skill, not to mention experience to remove a discoid meniscus. even i had to open and do conventional meniscectomy for two of my cases. no harm, equally good results, but recovery prolonged by 2 or 3 weeks.

dont touch it if it doesnt hurt!!!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my left knee and it pops quite a bit when the fluid is built up around it. So you really do need to have it checked out.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammation in and around the bones caused by fluid buildup.

You might want to get this checked out. The popping in your knee could be due to a cartilage tear. I ignored mine and ended up having arthroscopy and developing arthritis in that knee.

Popping in the knee could be the petulla, leg pain could be a ligament
