I am an avid skiier, I have been doing it since i was five years old. I am a slolomn skiier who has had many rough wipe outs including an open gash on the side of my head.......I had tried tubing when i was a teenager and even thought i thought it was fun i thought it was too rough and didnt take a whole lot of skill. Well my boyfriend talked me into tubing on the 4th and i wiped out big time and i had a major pain on the right side of my chest which is the side that i hit and it hurts for me to breathe, move my right arm at times and I can only lay on my back or my affected side (with extreme caution) for me to get out of bed i have to plan my exit and try baby movements to get out! What do you think and what can i do to alleviate my pain....Ibuprofen is not working.

The only way to tell is an x-ray but in reality they won't do anything. You might be able to get some stronger pain meds... try taking 800mg of Ibuprofen. But you should probably get the x-ray just incase...

Good luck and feel better

I have never broken or bruised a rib but feel bad you are in so much pain. I don't think you can tell a bruised rib from a fractured one without X-rays. Probably a good idea to go to the emergency room.

Fractured ribs means that the bone is broken. Bruised ribs is just like a bruise anywhere else, only a little bit deeper.

Have you had an x-ray? I would say get some medical attention to make sure you haven't broken a rib and injured an internal organ. At least you can get some stronger pain medication and see what other treatment is available.

that sounds like fractured to me. i studied martial arts for many years, and i've had both. when they were bruised, it was more of a surprise pain when i moved certain ways, it hurt a lot, but when they were fractured it was a thousand times worse. i'd recommend going to a doctor right away. when it happened to me, i needed to wear this sling kinda thing to keep my arm from doing things that needed that side of my ribs for support.

Go to the doctor and get x-rays.

Took my bruised ribs 2 months to heal and I still get intermittent pain 4 months later.

See a doctor. The only way to tell if you broke your ribs is with an x-ray.
