Okay, I'm a dork, been running these machines forever and what do I do today? Get to close to one of the needles BAM right thru my finger, I mean in the top and out the bottom, before I could snatch it away (machine runs at 650 stitches per minute) CRASH it goes thru my fingernail and breaks off. I don't think there's any of the needle in there but i did have to pull some hot pink thread out of my nail. Anyway, it didn't bleed much and actually doesn't hurt to the point of needing pain meds but now it's swollen so big it feels like it'll burst. I KNOW I should have went to have it looked at but .. you know how it is

Ice maybe? I thought of epsom salt but the thought of the salt in those holes and YEOWEEE no thanx, Any suggestions on getting this swelling down?

I have had bursitis once before, but this time it is different in that I now have tingling in my thumb and the first two fingers along with the stiffness and pain. I have had this for over a month now and have tried ice pack and NSAID's to relieve the pain and nothing is currently working. Any ideas?

I never listen to loud music; I work a white collar job, with little noise. I woke up, last week, with blood on my pillow, and a major earache. I have no idea how it happened. Now I am taking antibiotics, and pain killers. The doctor says I have a lot of scar tissue on both ears. How?

The human body has an amazing ability to heal itself, yet when you get swelling, everyone always says.... gotta take down the swelling, gotta use ice, gotta take anti-inflammatories. Also when you have swelling, in the knee for example, it hurts like hell. So why is the body swelling up? It must have a useful purpose, but what is it?

Me, with the broken toe questions again! I broke my little toe about a week and a half ago. The swelling is gone and I'm no longer taking ibuprofen, but it still hurts a little and feels lumpy. Basically, doctors tell you to do exercises that don't cause pain...however, my little toe still feels like it's being smooshed into an athletic shoe when I put it on, and I walk with a slightly more pronounced limp when I have sneakers on, but I can do the stationary bike with only minor twinges every now and then (no mind-blowing pain.) The problem is that I'm still limping slightly worse after I work out, but it usually goes away after a couple of hours. How can I tell if I'm reinjuring it or making it worse instead of better?

I lost my right foot about 2 years ago. I have heard that at Texas Institute they are 'playing' around with a new development to help amputees. They are calling it a bio-hybrid, which will supposedly eliminate the need for the socket of a prosthetic leg. Has anyone else heard of this and if so where can I find more information?

my left leg drags around behind me. it hurts at all the joints like my ankle, knee, and thigh and my footpoints outward instead of pointing forward like my other leg. i got it crushed when i was a goalkeeper for a half and i was a forward. i cant stay away from soccer. now, im stuck in keeper but i can still be a forward for maybe half a game. i feel like the cripple of the team but im still strong and lean. people keep asking "whats wrong with YOU?" what approach should i attempt?

I play the viola. tendonitis is very common in string instrument players if they don't warm up correctly or don't hold the bow correctly. sometimes my hand hurts after i play, especially if i'm playing very fast or very loud. if anyone knows of stretches or excercises that help, i would realy appreciate it! :)

The bruising and swelling have gone down, but I cannot make a complete fist because it hurts too much. Could it be broken or just jammed.
