my left leg drags around behind me. it hurts at all the joints like my ankle, knee, and thigh and my footpoints outward instead of pointing forward like my other leg. i got it crushed when i was a goalkeeper for a half and i was a forward. i cant stay away from soccer. now, im stuck in keeper but i can still be a forward for maybe half a game. i feel like the cripple of the team but im still strong and lean. people keep asking "whats wrong with YOU?" what approach should i attempt?

First of all, there is nothing wrong with YOU, only your leg. I'm a 34 year old mother of three and wife to a wonderful man. I lost my right foot and up to about 6 inches above my ankle in an accident where I work. The doctor did not have to amputate my foot, the machine did it for him. At the time that it happened, my husband was only my boyfriend and my youngest daughter was only 2 years old. I also felt like a cripple and worthless, less of a woman and even less of a mother. I know the pain you are experiencing as there were times I hurt so bad all I wanted to do was take pain pills all day long to keep from hurting. But through it all I had to stay strong, not for anyone else, but for me! I am now back in college studying to be an Automobile Technician, yep a mechanic with only one good foot, lol. Anyhow, what I'm trying to say is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, only a hurt leg. Be honest with them and don't try to hide anything, not even how your are feeling at the moment. I have a bad limp sometimes (because of the pain I still have) and people stare at me. It is something that you will need to adjust to. People don't really have any respect sometimes, so just try to keep being the soccer gal you are and I assume that you are a spunky person so just stay at it!

P.S. if you want a good laugh, here it is. When I was still in my wheelchair I use to get some pretty intense stares, you know seeing a woman with one foot and the other leg is well a nub, lol. Anyhow, me and my husband were shopping and this man kept staring at my 'stump', not like kids who are naturally curious, but real rude like. I finally got tired of it and lifted up my pants leg and shook my 'stump' at him, lol. Let me say that I think he got his comeuppence! And we all had a good laugh out of it.

Stay strong and if you need someone to talk to or to rant and rave at, just message me. I understand.

Did you ever go see a doctor? Like an orthopedist. An injury like that really deserves to be checked out especially if you can take away the pain and possible fix your leg with therapy. Besides if you want to continue soccer injuries are the number one reason to prevent people from playing.
