I lost my right foot about 2 years ago. I have heard that at Texas Institute they are 'playing' around with a new development to help amputees. They are calling it a bio-hybrid, which will supposedly eliminate the need for the socket of a prosthetic leg. Has anyone else heard of this and if so where can I find more information?

There is a lot of research being done all over the world on this. I will give you a link to look at. It has some interesting prospects hopefully it will help you and sometime soon.
Actually i added one more link. It lists how the bio mems and nano technologies work together to form a socket like you mentioned complete with feeling and senses. The Health Tech is that particular link in Austin Texas.
