The best thing to do to remain calm is to remember how many people have surgery everyday. Anesthesia awareness is a scarey thought, actually terrifying, but the odds of it happening are very slim. And for a surgery such as the one you're having, the amount of anesthesia the anesthesiologist will use is probably not going to be enough to put you out for good. Don't worry, doctors are professionals and they know what they're doing. Being nervous before surgery is perfectly normal. Just have a support group of your strongest family and friends with you on the day of the procedure, and just remember recovery is the worse part. So stop fretting over the surgery, everything is going to be ok!!

Don't worry: anesthesia is administered by a highly specialized professional. The dosage is based mainly on your weight, height, age and general health condition. Your doctor will make sure that it is the appropriate dosage to fit your particular need. I've had surgery several times and always came out fine. If upset stomach is a problem, though, you might want to let your doctor know. A special med can be added to the intravenous line to avoid the vomitting spells when you awaken. Make sure you get plenty of rest before, and try to focus on positive things: read the comics or do something fun to relax yourself. Good luck!

Do not worry or have fear of any kind.Pray to God and try to
remain calm. You would not wake up during surgery, your doctor
will see to it and certainly you will wake up after the surgery. I had
undergone open heart surgery-a major operation a few years
back and left everything on God believing that i will come out of
it suceesfully and so it was.Your operation is minor, nothing will
happen to you.

I have had surgery and they use medication before hand to relax you and then you will have a very nice sleep. You will not wake up during surgery and you will wake up. Your doctor knows your physical condition and he would not suggest surgery if he felt you would not wake up. Dont worry. Good Luck and get well soon.

That's a pretty common fear. I had it the first time too. Needless to say I pulled through. Every surgery after that has been relatively easy to except. Get over the first one and you'll have it made. Good luck.

Most surgery is totally without problems, realize that hand surgery is not like brain surgery. Hand surgery is routine, and also you have nothing to fear, just relax and realize that the doctor does surgery all the time.

This is very small routine operation. Nothing scary about it. Nowadays anesthesia has become safer. Don't worry for nothing.you will not wake up during. you will wake up at the end. Child play.
