Injuries - July 2006

Today I was walking on the tiles where my mom probably had been cleaning. I accidently slipped and fell ( I fell onto the carpet though because I was near the border of my living room and kitchen. I kinda twisted my ankle and now it hurts when I move it. Although I can still walk and jump, it just feels sore. Can my growth plate possibly be stunted? How do I make sure without spending 300 dollars at the doctor's office?

at night I would feel fever and cold. when I sleep and until the next day morning, I feel I'm fine and recover. but it's keep repeating the same thing everyday. it's the fourth day now.

I play basketball often, and i would like to have surgery soon, but my doc said if my knee wasnt experiencing "buckling" or "locking"(which its not) then he recommended against surgery. my knee only hurts when i try to sraighten it all the way or try and squat down. but he wants me to get my range of motion back before surgery.

so is this normal? why would he recommend against surgery?

I think I was bitten by a small snake in my yard. I have a quarter sized bruise with fang looking spots in it. I was definately spooked by something the other night that got me in the yard, but had no visible signs until the next day.

I've just been to Skegness, England ( North Sea ) yesterday and got a rather large sting round my calf. It started off leaking puss, then went a funny colour. Now left with promenant mark sore to touch.

Didn't see the culprit, beach too misty with sand.

How long have I got to live??

have you ever cut your finger on an egg shell? i did the egg shell one on easter and my sister made fun of me for that but then she goes and cuts her toung on a perfectly normal plastic cup.

Alright last night I got overly loaded and ended up stepping on a beer bottle and slicing my foot open quite bad. I went to the hospital where I was given 6 stitches. As my foot was frozen after this I felt I was fine to go back out partying, walking on it all night. This morning when I got home I noticed that one of the stitches has came out, causing the wound to appear a little separated in one area. Should I return to the hospital and get another stitch, or from your experiences is this really nothing to worry about. I would really prefer not to go back, I'm not to fond about the whole stitching process. Also, does it hurt when you get the stitches taken out. Thanks a lot.

I have bilateral achilles tendenosis. Orthopedic surgeon put the worse leg in a walking splint 3 mos. Went to physical therapy. Got as strong and flexible as I could be. Still in pain. Back to orthopedic surgeon. He had no answers. Said it would either get better or rupture. Tried Egoscue book techniques. Tried ultrasound. Got orthodics. New shoes. Now using a night splint. Nothing is helping me. I'm an incredibly active person, from hiking to tennis to hauling rocks around my garden and this is ruining my life. Now I can hardly just walk through the day. Forget any kind of what I would call normal physical activity for me. Therapeutic doses of ibuprofen help, but how long can I keep taking that? Am about to try chiropractic. If that doesn't work, acupuncture. My understanding is that an operation to scrape the tendon doesn't help that much and actually makes the tendon more liable to breakage. Does anyone have any answers? I'm one miserable person.

cross legged for a short time and get up and walk it is very sore. I don't wear high heals very often. This seems like more than getting older (I'm 33). Any ideas? I haven't sprained it or anything.

I went paintballing last week and got shot from about 5 feet away right in the juggular and have a nasty hicky. Only 1 or 2 people have actually been killed by a paintball in the 20 year history of the sport, and i scoured the internet and couldnt find anything on people having an aneuryism or something of from a paintball, and i found many accounts of people being shot in the jugular, but does anyone know if its easy to rupture or if it takes quit a bit to damage the vein?
