The human knee is a very complicated thing. There are tendons, ligaments, cartilage and a floating kneecap that make the knee very easy to injure. When your knee popped out, it was your kneecap that popped out of place and then back in. When your kneecap does that, it stretches the ligaments that hold your kneecap in place, and sometimes it tears them.
You can do several things at home to help your knee heal itself, such as keeping it elevated, keeping ice packs on it, and keeping weight off of it; however, a trip to the doctor is in order. You need to have your knee checked to see if you tore any ligaments or hurt your cartilage (cartilage is the tissue between your thigh bone and leg bone that cushions the bones as you walk). If you did tear a ligament, and it's possible that you did, you may require surgery or physical therapy. Even if you don't need surgery or physical therapy, a visit to the doctor will put your mind at ease.

you should go to the hospital as soon as you can! have someone take you since i assume will be unable to drive. theyll give you krutched and a brace. you should ice it for only 15 minutes at a time and take ibuprofen to keep the swelling down. After a few weeksm (whatever the hospital recommends) you should follow up with a doctor and go to pysical therapy to reabilitate it otherwise it will keep dislocating and will never get better, only worse. physical therapy helps out alot it give you mobility to be able to bend ur knee fully again and helps out with is form happening again! please go to the hospital, it will help you alot in the long run especially physical therapy
also putting it back in place w/o a professional could have chipped a bone which could give u more problems so you should also get x-rays done which they will probably do when u go to the hospital!

Okayy, my friend did this like a week ago. When hers popped out it popped right back in too. However, it didnt't pop into the right place...when she went to the ER they put it back in place but she has to wear a brace for at least 4-6 weeks. I would say go to the ER in case yours didn't go back in the right way...don't drive yourself. Get someone to drive you. Until you get to the ER put tons of ice on it...then switch to heat...then ice again.

If it still hurts "really bad" then you should see a doctor. Something else may be wrong.

You probably should see your doctor. Keep a cold pack on it and rest.
