Today I was walking on the tiles where my mom probably had been cleaning. I accidently slipped and fell ( I fell onto the carpet though because I was near the border of my living room and kitchen. I kinda twisted my ankle and now it hurts when I move it. Although I can still walk and jump, it just feels sore. Can my growth plate possibly be stunted? How do I make sure without spending 300 dollars at the doctor's office?

But is there any sign that I may have fractured it? Perhaps extreme pain or such?

IN order to damage your growth plate and/or stunt the bone growth, you have to fracture within the growth plate. It is highly unlikely that this happened by slipping onto the tiled floor.

Unless you have x-ray vision, you're not going to know for sure unless that extremity fails to grow at the rate of the other one.

If you're concerned that you may have fractured the bone, you should have it examined by a professional and have an x-ray taken to rule out damage to the growth plate.

I dont think it is.............. Its hard to damage a growth plate from a twist, its probably just a sprain. So the best you can do is take some pain reliever, ice it off and on, and try and keep off of it. Eventually you'll feel up and ready to just run around and it will be good again. GOOD LUCK!!

How old are you? Growth plates (if you are over 15) would be completed in your foot.. The ones you need to be concerned with are usually associated with the long bones anyway..

Your growth plate probably isnt' damaged if you didn't break your bone. Usually they only cause damage if you actually fracture the growth plate.

well, if you wait three years, and one leg is shorter than the other, then you did injure your growth plate.
