The bruising and swelling have gone down, but I cannot make a complete fist because it hurts too much. Could it be broken or just jammed.

Had the exact same thing happen in an indoor Soccer Semifinal game a few years back. I'm a goalie, and my hand snapped back on a shot. I kept on playing and after I took my goalie glove off, the hand was swallon. Btw, we lost 2-1 : (

I slightly fractured (hairline) three fingers and damaged the ligaments in my hand. I couldn't curl my hand for weeks, couldn't even grip a pen.

Advice: go get an X-ray. Keep moving your sprained hand, slowly day-by-day it will extend a little more. If you can curl it a bit, squeeze a tennis ball, this will exercise the ligaments.

Either way, a doctor isn't going to do anything but put a splint on it. So you can go to a pharmacy, they should have splints or you can take a popsicle stick in between the two fingers that hurt and wrap it with tape to keep you from bending them until they heal.

You probably should see a doctor. You may need x-rays.
