"Some people like to ice their injuries, yet others say that heat is the way to go, but I have the answer, HOT ICE. That's right, just heat up the ice. it's the best of both worlds!" That was a line from rookie of the year.

No, I have to agree with everyone else, Ice and Ibuprofen. Ice will dull the pain and reduce swelling, and the Ibuprofen ironically does the same thing. If things don't get better in two weeks, go to your doctor, it could be worse than you think.

You need to have someone pull hard on your finger to unjam it. You could do it yourself if you think you can bare the pain, I always prefer to have someone else to do it. After it is unjammed, you might need to put ice or heat. But from my experience with jammed fingers after having them unjammed, I went right on doing what I was before I jammed it.
Be certain that it is not broken. If your finger is turning dark black and maybe spreading, then there is a chance that it might be broken instead of just being jammed. Good Luck.

Ice and aleave or ibuprofen (either will cut the swelling and should numb the pain a little)

You've got to pull on it to unjam it first and then alternately ice it and flex it a lot.
