i really want to lose 15-20 lbs by january. here's this diet i have put myself on to lose the weight:
breakfast: 1 small clementine [40 calories]
lunch: granola bar [100 calories]
snack(s): fat-free, sugar-free yogurt [60 calories]
rice cake [50 calories]
dinner: small salad with wish bone salad spritzers dressing and croutons [about 150-200 calories]

i go to the gym about twice a week; i usually use the elliptical for an hour and the treadmill for an hour, so i burn at least 200 calories.

i am 5'4.5" and around 113 lbs (maybe a little less im not sure). i am a 16 year old female and i have a small frame.

do you think i will lose the weight by january if i keep this up?

I am very slim but I still have a bit of a pot belly. I have always had one but even more so after I had a baby 3 years ago. what can I do to target that area only? Apparently sit ups and crunches are not very efficient.

I mean, most people have an office party, and then two dinners at your inlaws and parents. So- why on earth are people freaking out?

How much weight can you possibly gain from a few dinners? I dont know about anyone else, but I eat dinner EVERY NIGHT, and it hasnt killed me. How can eating more for a few meals really cause so much damage?

Dont you think maybe its just hype, and has nothing to do with anything except people who let themselves go and want to blame it on something?

i didnt even gain weight from "holiday" meals when I was pregnant...

I just dont get it.

If have a big meal in your system and you step on one of those scales, will your fat percentage be affected by all the food in your body? Will your percentage be higher, lower, or will it not matter?

The reason I'm asking is because I slept over my friend's house the other day and we ate a lot the night before, and the next morning, before going to the bathroom, I stepped on the scale and it said 15 % body fat. Is that correct?

Here was my breakfast:
↓↓↓

Oatmeal with banana & Tea

→Considering what I ate for breakfast, which dinner would be healthier:

►5 egg whites & 1 whole egg, whole wheat toast, corn on the cob, & a sweeet potatoe

►Turkey, corn on the cob, beets, & a sweet potatoe

►Skinless chicken tenders, corn on the cob, beets, sweet tater, & peas

When a person weighs themselves after dieting, they see that they've lost say 10lbs. But they actually don't look that much better because most of that weight was shapely muscle.

Why do people not realize the importance of decent exercise and eating enough protein to maintain muscle? Muscle speeds up the metabolism and stops your thighs and butt etc from looking saggy. I've seen people eating nothing but fruit and veg and they are thrilled with the weight loss...but then they wonder why the weight loss comes to a grinding halt and they feel weak and tired and are less toned....

I bought 5 apples, 4 bananas and 4 pears with 5 dollars and they were at "reduced" price already. Why are them so expensive? Since they are essential for body health and people like them.

I'm not saying that eating lots of junk food is good for you.
I feel that balance is key. Obviously you shouldn't center your diet on processed junk, BUT...you also don't need to be on a detox like diet all your life to be healthy. I feel that detox like diets don't give you any additional benefits to what a normal balanced diet can provide.
I get the impression that many nutritionists nowadays imply that you have to eat lots of vegetables and fruit etc in order to stay healthy. In my experience, eating simple foods that are easy to digest (as a baseline) and then throwing in the odd "super healthy food" does my health a lot better than in the days where I used to go on obsesively strict "pure" diets.
In my own experience too, when I speak to elderly ones, they tell me what they're main foods used to be, and it was really basic stuff. I've asked the most healthy people I've known (hardly even get a cold in years), and they're diets aren't jam packed with fruit & veg....
