Maybe. It would definitely be healthier for you. The acid in the pop, and the caffeine aren't very good for you in large amounts. The caffeine probably keeps you dehydrated, so at first, drinking lots of water might make you appear to gain weight, but in the long run, it would be better. Keep in mind that you should cut out the pop sorta slowly, because if you do it fast, you will probably get grumpy and get headaches. Your body will want the caffeine. Just substitute one pop with a glass of water everyday. I bet you'll feel better anyway.

I'm a diet coke girl myself.
One time I stopped drinking d'coke for 2wks and I lost about 3 pounds, just stopping the soda alone.
Unfortunately when I do drink more soda I drink less water. Water is no doubt healthier for you. But some studies show that diet sodas can actually increase your craving for sweets.

Yes, and it will be healthier for you.

My mother's diabetic, and if her blood sugar get out of whack she starts getting headachy. One day at work, she got a diet soda and drank it. And started getting that headache. When she checked her sugar, it sure enough had shot up. Fortunately, a few almonds was enough to bring it back down.

I know that anecdote probably seems to be coming from the left field- but it just goes to show that the word 'diet' on a food item doesn't always mean anything.
