I am very slim but I still have a bit of a pot belly. I have always had one but even more so after I had a baby 3 years ago. what can I do to target that area only? Apparently sit ups and crunches are not very efficient.

as you have found it's it's physiologically impossible to spot reduce fat stores through exercise. it doesn't work, it goes against human biology yet people still insist on attempting it.

you need to focus on reducing your current level of body fat by cleaning up your diet and getting regular high-intensity exercise. high-intensity exercise not only burns more calories during the actually training session but causes an increase in the metabolic rate after exercise, low intensity exercise does not do this. real fat loss occurs as the result of an elevated metabolic rate. when the body releases fat stores for use as energy it does so from all over the body. typically the abdominal region is the first place where fat storage occurs and will be the last place that fat is released from.

I have the same problem, and unfortunately spot reduction does NOT work. You have to drop pounds over all, all over your body. Cut back your daily calorie intake by about 500, or see your doctor, I don't know your norm daily schedule so I can't say for sure.

In the MEANTIME: You can't just lose stomach fat by doing crunches, but you can firm it up so it's not so flabby and appears thinner. Tans also work to making things look flatter and firmer. And stand straight, shoulder back and suck in your stomach. Takes off 5 pounds instantly!

Good Luck!
