I mean, most people have an office party, and then two dinners at your inlaws and parents. So- why on earth are people freaking out?

How much weight can you possibly gain from a few dinners? I dont know about anyone else, but I eat dinner EVERY NIGHT, and it hasnt killed me. How can eating more for a few meals really cause so much damage?

Dont you think maybe its just hype, and has nothing to do with anything except people who let themselves go and want to blame it on something?

i didnt even gain weight from "holiday" meals when I was pregnant...

I just dont get it.

It's called Marketing. They will market anything to any idiot who is stupid enough to purchase it. I think the detox thing after a big meal is nothing but a bunch of B.S. I also think all this colon cleansing crap, (no pun intended) and Colonics is a waste of peoples money. But a lot of people fall for all the hype, and run right out and buy the product or service without really thinking about it. They don't stop long enough to think, because they are too busy keeping up with what the media tells them do, and how to act, ect....

alot of people gain weight when they eat heavily but that doesnt mean its permenant weight, i mean it does sit in your colon for a while going through the digestive process, and especialy if you eat an unusualy large amount it will slow your body's digestive tract for a little bit. so if your one of those people who steps on the scale frequantly you will definatly notice a few extra pounds. holiday meals can also effect people with slower metabolisms way more than people with faster or even normal metabolisms. my sister for example...she can eat ALOT of food and still be tiny, she could even do that frequantly and still be tiny(she pretty much does).but my friend she eats like that and she gains alot of weight. when your older you also have to be carefull about how much you eat and of what your eating, because your body "isnt what it used to be" and can have problems digesting that stuff. hype also plays into it.....definate play on peoples guilt after eating so much on the holidays, they have to make up for it later by going on crazy diets, and diets sell bigtime, diet books, exercise videos, diet pills, those exercise equipment, theres alot of products on that market. they are pretty much prepareing for their big spring sales, everyone that has gained a few pounds on the holidays is looking to slim down for bikini season. people are weird. personaly i love my curves :)

I was just thinking the same way! I saw that article on Yahoo and all the comments from people saying 'I feel so guilty, wahhh!'

It happens once a year. It's a celebration of EATING, so eat, and don't think twice about it. You won't gain 10 lbs from one night. Damn!
