i really want to lose 15-20 lbs by january. here's this diet i have put myself on to lose the weight:
breakfast: 1 small clementine [40 calories]
lunch: granola bar [100 calories]
snack(s): fat-free, sugar-free yogurt [60 calories]
rice cake [50 calories]
dinner: small salad with wish bone salad spritzers dressing and croutons [about 150-200 calories]

i go to the gym about twice a week; i usually use the elliptical for an hour and the treadmill for an hour, so i burn at least 200 calories.

i am 5'4.5" and around 113 lbs (maybe a little less im not sure). i am a 16 year old female and i have a small frame.

do you think i will lose the weight by january if i keep this up?

that diet is far to restrictive in calories and nutrients in general. a healthy diet should be balanced. this means each meal should contain some protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. all of these are needed in order for the body to function normally.

at your age during puberty you should not be restricting your calories that low. when there is severe caloric restriction during puberty this does not allow the endocrine system to develop normally and the endocrine system governs the human body. starving the body during the growth years can cause various health problems for the lifespan.

at your age and weight (113 lbs) and with 2 hours of daily exercise you should be ingested no less than 1750 calories daily. meals should be more like:

Breakfast: 3 cooked egg whites, 1 serving of oatmeal, 1 medium orange

Snack: 1 medium apple and 1 tablespoon peanut butter

Lunch: small green salad with 4-6 oz. lean poultry

Snack: handfull of mixed nuts or seeds or some beef jerky

Dinner: 4 oz. fish or lean poultry, several cups of steamed vegetables

Snack:

1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese

first of all, you don't need to lose weight, second of all, that diet is horrible. take it from me(experienced). By january, you will have no energy, be cold all the time, your hair will fall out, you will probably stop ur period, and you wont want to do anything or see anyone. you will probably be depressed all the time. You need to eat more. Once u start that, it willbe hard to stop. And it can kill you!!

Honestly I don't think it will work, cause it doesn't have enough protein. You'll be starving all the time, because you'll literally be starving (under 1200 cal per day is starving). And weak because your muscles don't have any nutrients to help them heal themselves. Not to mention you'll kill your metabolism. Please don't do this.

Hon, I don't have a clue WHY you think you need to lose 15-20lbs. You are at a GREAT weight for your age and height.

it's obvious from your question and your 'diet' plan that you have unhealthy food/body issues. 113 is a very healthy, slender weight for your height. the plan you have outlined is a starvation diet that provides very little nutrition. as someone who has struggled with an eating disorder for a number of years, i recognize it well. my advice to you would be to find professional help.

I'M AFRAID THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK, THAT'S ONLY A TOTAL OF ABOUT 400 CALORIES, YOUR BODY NEEDS A MINIMUM OF 1500 TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AND GET ALL THE NUTRIENTS IT NEEDS, IF YOU CONTINUE TO EAT THIS LITTLE YOUR GOING TO END UP IN A HOSPITAL BED. IF YOU WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT, CUT OUT ALL CARBS, (PASTA, BREAD, ETC..) IF YOUR STILL HUNGRY, FILL UP WITH SALAD.

NOT HEALTHY. See your Doctor or a Nutritionist before changing your diet.
