I had a wisdom tooth extracted 5 days ago. Before the dentist could even get the tooth out, it broke in pieces a few times... talk about pain... anyways!! today I actually could open my jaw up, without extreme pain and take a look at the healing gums, what I saw did not look normal. It looks like white tissue is growing in the hole that was left. I do still feel pain by I have no clue where it is coming from. It shoots up my whole head, yet it is bearable. So I called the dentist that removed the tooth today, of course I had to call right before the office was closing and he seems rushed into telling me that the growing tissue is normal. Does anyone know #1 Do I have dry socket? #2 Are there any images on the web of dry socket, I cant find one anywhere?

My teeth are pretty good, my dentist says I do not need braces. But when I look at them, I dont like them. There are some that aren't really straight and some stick out a very little bit. I also have an overbite. I want my teeth to be perfectly even, straight, and no overbite. How can I do this without getting braces?

And if so, are you happy with it? Or was it better to get braces to just fix one tooth? For example, a tooth that hasn't grown properly in place... and does the fake tooth look normal?

why does youre dentist drape a heavy lead apron across you before x-raying youre teeth

2007-10-09 16:36:18 · 9 answers · asked by Michael :D 2

it is one of his tow front teeth and it is getting quite discolored. I took him to the dentist last week, but he wanted to wait to make sure if was going to die before he pulled it. He could quite tell from x-rays. Well have any of your children had baby teeth knocked out? Your experience with missing teeth for so long and can they put in fake baby teeth and estimated cost? Whatever you know would help. He I am sure how it looks now will have to have it removed tomorrow.

Cold drinks have caused me extreme pain. It appears to be coming from the roof of my mouth )near the injection site) to the sinus area under my eye and my temple. This is much more severe than anything I had before. It does not seem to affect the tooth. I also had what felt like major sinus pressure on that side after the procedure along with a "medicine" like taste draining down my throat. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm having my 4 wisdom teeth cut out of my gums and i'm having a local anesthetic with sedation . i'm booked in for 11:45 in a few weeks time. When i went for the consultation the dentist said for the receptionist to book me in at 11:45 because it will take a while .. . Does anyone have a rough idea how long this will take , like how many hours this will take?

Thanks for your help

I haven't been to the dentist because of financial reasons since I was 12 and now I'm 38. I decided it was definately time that I would go because I am feeling sensitivity in almost all of my teeth and can see a HUGE hole in one of my lower right molars. I can also see many smaller holes in my other teeth.

Does anyone know what I should expect? I heard it's not as painful as it used to be. Thank goodness, because the one cavity that I had filled when I was 11 hurt like heck. I'm going to a university dental school to have my checkup because it's cheaper, and want to know in about how many appointments I can get my one definate cavity filled and all of my other potential ones.

If anyone has ever been to a university dental practice, could you tell me how many people will be looking at my mouth at once, because my sister told me that at her private dental practice, she had like 3 people hovered around her mouth at once, and I really don't want that.

My teeth are extremely bad, and I haven't been to a dentist since I was in the 1st grade. I was wondering if you are put to sleep during a root canal. I heard they are the most painful things to bear (next to childbirth) but my friend had one and he played in our baseball game the same night.

If your nerve cells die in the pulp, I read that your tooth could start to discolor. If you were to bring back those nerves would the discoloration disappear?

If nerve damage were to happen to your teeth, how would one go about fixing it?

Is there any way of regrowing tooth enamel? When we crack our knuckles, after a period of time our knuckles get bigger because of the extra bone that was generated to heal the cracked knuckles. Why doesn't that happen to teeth?

Ok, i had a wisdom tooth extracted this morning. I have been following the instructions but somethings are concerning me.

1) I have a slight salty taste in my mouth. Is that normal?

2) I looked at the tooth and cannot see any blood clot there.. i hope I havent swallowed it or anything. Is it normal for there NOT to be any blood visible, or could that mean it hasnt healed properly.

I am particularly concerned because I am 38 weeks pregnant, so I obviously worried about infections/excessive pain etc as that could trigger labour I guess, or harm the baby in some other way.

I was thinking the other day about the fact that on avergae sharks have 3,000 teeth, and that every time they lose one the back teeth push forward and replace it. When I thought about our teeth, and how we only have one row of 'replacing teeth' and those are our adult and baby teeth, I thought that wouldn't it be great if we could grow another tooth, if we lost our adult teeth? I do admit alot of dentists might be out of jobs, but is is even possible?

What obstacles would one have to battle to find a way for the body to regenerate the growth of a replacement tooth???

I have a friend who overuses her orajel. Her tooth hurt for awhile, and she used orajel, but now she uses it every day, all the time. She likes the numbing feeling in her mouth. This question sounds silly, but should I be concerned for her? Can benzocaine, the active ingredient in orajel, be addicting? And is it harmful for her to use it like this? The concentration, I believe, is 10%, though I'm not sure.
