I haven't been to the dentist because of financial reasons since I was 12 and now I'm 38. I decided it was definately time that I would go because I am feeling sensitivity in almost all of my teeth and can see a HUGE hole in one of my lower right molars. I can also see many smaller holes in my other teeth.

Does anyone know what I should expect? I heard it's not as painful as it used to be. Thank goodness, because the one cavity that I had filled when I was 11 hurt like heck. I'm going to a university dental school to have my checkup because it's cheaper, and want to know in about how many appointments I can get my one definate cavity filled and all of my other potential ones.

If anyone has ever been to a university dental practice, could you tell me how many people will be looking at my mouth at once, because my sister told me that at her private dental practice, she had like 3 people hovered around her mouth at once, and I really don't want that.

congrates to u for finnaly stabilize economically
ur problem: sensitive teeth, huge hole, smaller holes

sensitive teeth=2 main reasons causing them to happen, 1 periodontal(gum) disease and 2,tooth brushing trauma to ur teeth.. ur dentist can help... periodontal disease..with scaling and polishing and toothbrushing trauma.. he will show u how to brush properly using what kind of toothbrush

huge hole..is it painful? disturbing ur sleep? or if u had experienced it..likely the tooth will be extracted..or if u go to university dental practice.. they might do root canal treatment for u,depending of the status of the teeth whether restorable or not
smaller cavities.. can be filled

for the appointments part. because u opt to go to university dental school, likely u'll be treated by dental students,
and as u know..dental students...u would expect them not to be that skill in doing dental treatment...so u would expect more appointments for ur teeth than done by dentist

in my experience.. for the first visit they will do scaling and polishing, give u oral hygiene instruction or even preseting u to their lecturers for advise on food intake and so on

so likely..u'll get treatment for the teeth in the next appointments...i would say a lot of them

about ur big holed tooth, if they want to do root canal treatment on u..likely for students to do it for 3-7 appointments

and do expect alot of people are going to see ur mouth as u come to a learning instituion

good luck

They will probably do a full set of x-rays and determine a course of action after that. It will be long, time consuming and most
definitely expensive.
