I'm having my 4 wisdom teeth cut out of my gums and i'm having a local anesthetic with sedation . i'm booked in for 11:45 in a few weeks time. When i went for the consultation the dentist said for the receptionist to book me in at 11:45 because it will take a while .. . Does anyone have a rough idea how long this will take , like how many hours this will take?

Thanks for your help

yes i am going to a oral and maxillofacial surgeon to have them removed. A normal dentist can't do the procedure, so they referred me to the specialist .

If you go to a dentist/dental suregon, then one wisdom tooth can take 3 hours, or 5 minutes. If you go to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, then the procedure (hard or easy) always takes 2-3 minutes a tooth, and four wisdom teeth takes around 15 minutes. Always go to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to ahve your wisdom teeth removed, or you may be in for a lot of post-operative swelling and pain.
I don't know if I can help you, but here goes. To find out everything you need to know about orthognathic (jaw correction) surgery, wisdom teeth surgery, implant dentistry, TMJ problems and anything really to do with facial and jaw surgery generally, you should go to www.dentalimplantsaustralia.com. The site is an Australian one, and deals with oral and maxillofacial surgery, and also with dentistry and orthodontics. Good luck! I hope that helps you.

Mine took about 4 or 5 hours I think. I was put to sleep though, so I am not certain. All I remember was going home and sleeping the rest of the day. Take the pain pills they give you, it'll help so much. Stock up on some easy to swollow foods like apple sauce (room temp. don't refrigerate...ouchy) even baby foods are good for the first day or two. You'll be good in a couple of days. Good luck :)

It depends on how difficult your teeth are to get out. Easy extractions may take only about an hour, if even that, from start to finish. Harder ones, that have to be cut out, could take at least 2 hours.
