Is it possible to be spread this way?

Ignore the answer of the guy above me. He got a thumbs down from me. He's confusing gingivitis with SCURVY!!!

Anyways, no you can't get gingivitis from kissing or sharing drinks. You do pass the bacteria involved in causing gingivitis back and forth, but as long as you're brushing and flossing as you should then you won't get it because you'll just brush and floss that bacteria away.

Yes, it's true that bacteria from dental decay is passed from one person to another, but the same is true. Just do what you're supposed to do and the bacteria will be cleaned away.

Young children, even babies get the bacteria that causes decay from their parents. That's how they first get it. The bacteria is transmissable, but in order to have a disease process occur, such as gingivitis and decay, you have to let the bacteria take over by not having good oral hygiene.

Hope this answer makes sense to you!

Is gingivitis spread through kissing or drinking from the same glass?
Is it possible to be spread this way?

I'd have to say no to that. Gingivitis is generally caused by an accumulation of plaque due to poor brushing, flossing and cleaning appointments. Certain medications can cause hyperplastic gingivitis, but you can't get that from sharing a glass. You can get mono that way though....:P

I have heard that decay from one persons mouth can cause decay in the person you kiss often. It's probably true about the gingivitis also but I don't think it could happen from using a glass because it takes time. Probably years even.

No. First you must simply understand what gingivitis means. Gingiv/o means gums and -itis means inflammation. So pretty much gingivitis means inflammation of the gums. This is usually caused from lack of proper dental hygiene. The plaque gets under the gums and causes them to become inflamed (sore) and swell. Proper brushing and flossing pretty much will prevent this.

This is not something that can be spread to others.

Gingivitis almost always leads to bad breath and other mouth problems. Brushing the teeth to remove plaque and tartar helps, as does treating canker sores and dry throat and taking other steps to maintain good oral hygiene. Unless you will keep it under control by tooth brushing and flossing and where necessary, the use of antibacterial products at http://www.oramd.com/, the condition will get worst.

No, gingivitis is not contagious.

Healthy teeth and gums are important for your lifetime and your overall health in general.

GINGIVITIS CANNOT BE PASSED ON THIS WAY, BUT THE BACTERIA WHICH ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERIODONTAL DISEASE MAY BE SHARED IF KISSED FROM THOSE WHO HAVE IT WITH THOSE WHO DON'T.
SHARING FROM A GLASS MAY GIVE YOU MONO., BUT IT WILL NOT CAUSE THESE DENTAL DISEASES.
