Dental - March 2007

I have this horrible, disgusting habit of actually biting my toe nails. My mum and dad were both contortionists and met at a circus. I was never much for show biz but seem to have inherited their weird flexibility. Subsequently I've developed some rather odd habits. We all know about people who bite their finger nails or pick their nose. Pretty common huh? But I actually bite my toe nails. I sit there infront of the sofa with my mates or guests huddled around a bowl of popcorn just crunching away at my shell toes - is there anyone else out there who does this?

I have Pink and Green at the moment.. they look really good but i am getting them changed soon so which colours?? I was thinking Red Yellow and Green but people say yuk and i am begining to realise it will be gross. Any suggestions?

I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and had a check-up and xrays. Then i went back and they showed me the xrays and took more to make sure they hadnt messed up. On the xrays it shows on my bottom right side there is a medium size white cloud area. Its only under one tooth. The one root is normal, but the other one is half gone and the white cloud is there.....like its eating it or something.
Anyone have any idea what it could be? The Dentist said he never seen anything like it before and that its very weird and he would research and get back to me but i am starting to worry.

what exactly dees salt do to your teeth? like, what about it helps a topoth ache? do i put the salt directlyon the toooth and/of gum??/ or rinse with warm water and salt? what the difference and what does it do?

i have a terrible toothache and cannot afford the dentist for 2 more weeks. then i am going to have the tooth pulled. my question is.. it has decayed so far down that half the tooth is missing...every 6 months or so it hurts terribly for 3 or 4 days then the pain dissapears. I finally have an appt in 2 weeks to get it removed but there is no way before then i can affprd it. it is hurting so bad now, should i take antibiotics? how do i no if i have an infection? i have some ammoxixillin.. wil that work untill i can get to dr?
also, how wil he pull the tooth since only part of it is left?

I had two of my front teeth pulled and I now have two bridges. I am about to lose one of the bridges because the root of an anchor tooth is decaying. I have very little bone left in the area (chronic infection) and even if implants could be anchored, apparently the gum line would be too strange. I'm told I must have a partial, which is apparently removable. I'm only 35 - I don't want dentures yet! Can someone send me to a good on-line resource for the latest technologies in teeth restoration?

After the dentist digging around for 30 minutes and a few xrays trying to show him where it was, he gave up. So now the root in still in my mouth, he said it will eventually work its way out itself.
How long until the root dies ? Anyone know ? It's still pretty painful.
He said it could be up to two years before the root worked its way out, surely I wont have pain that long, yikes!

I have problems with grinding my teeth, and one molar in the back of my mouth had slightly chipped. I just recently got a crown on it but I feel a lot of sensitivity and sometimes pain when I drink cold liquids.. Is this normal? Such as post crown pain.. or should I seek my dentist about this pain?

My mom signed all these papers for the dentsit I guess to do what was needed for me to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I have so afraid of what they are going to do is it going to hurt? He has decided that an injection would be BEST a small dose and that if I needed more he would give it to me. How come I cant sign any papers since I'm the one getting it done? And my mom signed for me to get Behaviorbale Management Treatment at the dentist that scares me all the more. My mom or dentist doesn't know that I'm worried and I dint want to say (at least to me mom) what can I do to relax? I'm going crazy I feel like calling better yet not going?

By the way what's the point of him pulling them? They dont even hurt, I didn't even know they were there. How many wisdom teeth do we have total anyway. He's pulling two total.

I'm 13 y.o. and i have one adult canine growing in front of my baby tooth. It's grown higher into my gum than my other canine tooth. Is this normal? do i have to get the baby tooth pulled out? will my canine grow back in it's normal place, or do i need braces? has this happened to you before?

My back top left molar.Already on penicillian,Ultram and ibprofren 800.Have taken stuff for headace,but it will not go away.Headache started 2 days ago.Tooth has been abscessed for 2 weeks today.

I have to get all four of my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow. Here are my questions:
My family has a history of a kind of allergy to certain anesthetics. Is this common?
I want to be sedated for this procedure. Is this an option they give you or do you have to ask to be put out?
What is the dissolving material they make the stitches out of? It was used on me once and i had a reaction. They told me after they used it that the material was "cat gut" and I am allergic to cats. Is there an alternative?
And finally, will four days off work suffice? Will i be up and running enough on the 5th day to return to work when my job is talking nearly all day long?

I'm so scared to drool at the dentist and to even admit when I'm in pain. I dont want them to think I'm a baby what can I do? I also dont wnat a mouth prop because I'm afraid it's going to make me drool a little and I'm scared to have a panic attack.

Anyone know some dentists that treat in dealing with fearful patients and what is the whole thing about behavior management treatment during dental treatment. What is going to happen? I want to be awake I'm so afraid to be asleep.

Give me so good advice that will help me please. What do you think a dentist will think if you cry while there? How can I relax and stay relax while recieving treatment. Will they allow me to recieve treatment with out any medication?

Please answer all the questions I have it will really help me out.
