I'm in my early 30's and I still have a baby canine. It's solid, but recently I crowned the two teeth below it and the baby tooth has pushed out little (to meet the lower teeth) and now the dentin is showing and it's a bit sensitive (hot and cold) it doesn't hurt. I'm thinking of getting it pulled and replaced with an implant. (x-rays show no other tooth under it)

My mother was born with a hair lip and left pallete and has been receiving dentistry treatment throughouot her life for complications cause by the cleft pallet. To receive this treatment she goes to the local dentist hospital but she is always given a student doctor and is often used as a case study which she hates!! Are there any private dentists in the UK (preferably the South West) who have experience with cleft pallet and how do i find them?

My Mum was born with a cleft pallet and Hare Lip. She had extensive surgery when she was young for the Hare Lip and still continues to receive treatment for her cleft pallet. At the moment she has all her dentistry done at the local Dentistry Hospital but she is often given student dentists and is often used as a case study which she finds very uncomfortable. I am trying to locate Dentists in the UK (South West preferably) who specialise or who have some experience with patients with cleft pallets. Does anyone know of any or know where i can search??

Hello everyone

I am still thinking about whether to get a crown or not. I've been advised by my dentist to do so about a month ago since he diagnosed that I have a crack in my tooth. And the quote was $900!

Is he ripping me off? That sounds more or less outrageous. $900 for 60 minutes of scary dental work. I'd rather just pull the thing out for a $100! (or did that rig the price to be that $900 as well!?).

I'm beginning to think the whole dental industry is a bit like car mechanics. Except freakier.

Does this sound like a fair price for crowns? Has anyone had a crown done?

Thank you.

im 24 and never got them, do u think they may still pop up. do some people just never get them, and if so why? i heard that the wisdom teeth were more useful thousands of years ago when early humans had to chew tough meats and things like that, but they are losing their importance now. maybe in a few generations people wont be bothered with them!

Recently my teeth have been showing some staining. I do not smoke or drink. I have been using baking soda, but it only has worked a little.

I brush, floss, and mouthwash both night and day. How else can I actually get rid of these brown spot?

And now my main question, on one of my teeth, I found a little circular spot on the surface which is lower than the rest. It is as if a thing layer of the surface of my teeth came off in this little circular area. I never felt anything chip off.

What is the crater? How can I fix it?

Thanks!

I cracked my tooth sometime in January 2007 (don't remember the exacted day) but it didn't start hurting till a had some peanuts a week in a half ago. Now the pain is nearly unbearable and I won't be able to see the dentist till Thursday. I'm afraid to eat anything or drink anything becuase that's what inflames it even more. It's not just the tooth anymore it feels like its deep inside the gums. Any advice.

I realize I have to wear it for a LONG time after my teeth have moved into position, but how long should it take for them to initially move into place?
I'd just like to know how long I should wait before I see visual results. I've had the retainer for about 6 days so far.
