I know that unbearable pain all too well. It doesn't taste good at all, but desperate situations call for desperate measures: smash up an asprin, put it on the tooth and take a couple of aspirins as well. Do this just until you can get to a drug store and get some oil of cloves; don't swallow jthe oil of cloves just put some directly on & around your tooth and stand over the sink or have a paper towel handy because you will have to dribble your saliva back out because of the strong taste (use a Q-tip) but it is better than oral gel and the rest. Go get this RIGHT AWAY bcuz when it hits your nerve you DO NOT want to be unprepared!!!
Once your tooth gets to this stage it will most likely require a root canal and a cap. The physical pain of a root canal is practically painless compared to the pain you've been feeling, but if you don't have great insurance the financial pain is pretty steep. If you cannot afford all of the work, don't let them pull your tooth, THEY NEVER GROW BACK, instead just have them drill to stop the pain -this always works and you can have the costly work done later. The problem with this is that the tooth is vulnerable to cracking because of the hole, so don't chew much on that side and do your best to get it fixed ASAP.
I'm sorry you are hurting and these are only temporary remedies -and after a short period of time they won't help the pain either, so be sure not to miss your appointment.
I pray in Jesus Christ's precious name for your healing.

I would call the dentists office back and tell them you can't wait! Sweetie, you need to be seen. It could be an infection and that shouldn't wait for 3 more days! You probably need antibiotics right now, so please call them back and say you'll die before Thursday rolls around.
In the meantime, try drinking with a straw. I would drink protein drinks and forget about real food until after you see the dentist. I had oral surgery and drank Ensure nutritional drinks after wards. They're okay for short term cases like this so try some.
I would take Advil to ease your pain and reduce swelling (if there is any) and try to relax. Gargle with warm salt water if you can stand it. One teaspoon of salt in 1 Cup of warm water. Swish that round your mouth and spit it out, then do it over and over until it's all used up. Do that up to 3 times a day.
I'm so sorry you're in pain and I certainly hope your dentist sees you sooner than Thursday! They should be able to see you very early in the morning, at lunch or as their last appointment of the day - that's how my dentist/oral surgeon worked me in.
Take care, try to gargle with salt water.

Gently swish with warm salt water (1/4 tsp to 1 cup warm water) to clean out the area. Take ibuprofen or tylenol for the pain. If that doesn't help, call the dentist and ask them to prescribe something stronger; they can call it into the pharmacy and you can pick it up. Try drinking through a straw (fluids, soup, soft puddings, milkshakes) to keep foods away from the area. Hold an ice pack, wrapped in cloth, on your cheek in the area to help bring down the inflammation. The pharmacist may be able to tell you something else to put on the tooth, although if the nerve is exposed, not much is going to help. Sleep with your head up on a couple pillows to help prevent further swelling in the area.
Sorry you have to wait so long to see someone. :(

First and foremost, call your dentist and get some pain medication!!! If you don't have an established relationship with a dentist, then your doctor is another possibility. If that won't work either, then a trip to the ER is a possiblity. You may also want to ask about getting an antibiotic, as it sounds as though you probably have some infection.

A "Toothache" can usually be referred to as pain that is felt around the teeth and or jaw. The cause of a toothache in most cases is by either problems with your jaw and or tooth. In most cases you (and I am talking from experience here) you would just leave it and wait for the pain to subside, but this isn't the correct thing to do.
Toothaches are a sign that there may be more to worry about then just a little pain. The causes of toothache are several but the major causes are, dental cavity, a cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. It is possible for the cause of a toothache to originate from an entirely different problem such as heart attack or angina but this is quite rare. It can be noted however that some patients suffering angina will show toothache or jaw pain as the only symptoms so it is always best to let your dentist or doctor evaluate you.

Try using Anbesol © - it's a clove oil liquid that dulls toothache. If worse comes to worst, don't be a hero - go to the emergency ward and call in sick if necessary. If you drink and are at home with no obligation to drive anywhere, put some whiskey on your gums. A few shots can help too, but don't overdo it.

I agree with the cloves but you may be looking at an abscess. Until you get to a dentist take plenty Vitamin C and zinc and if you have cranberry tablets take those too. Eat yogurt and take probiotics to fight infection. Eating garlic or taking garlic tablets helps fight infection. If you can't sleep try Advil. Hope you feel well soon!

FORGET USING AMBESOL OR ORAJEL NEITHER WILL WORK.
WHY NOT?
THESE WORK WHEN THE PAIN IS IN/FROM THE GUMS NOT THE ACTUAL TOOTH.
TH BEST THING TO DO IS TO TAKE A MOTRIN 800mg EVERY 4-6 HOURS UNTIL YOU SEE A DENTIST.THIS IS THE SAME MEDICINE AS IBUPROFEN 200mg (4 tablets). THIS WILL NOT ONLY DECREASE THE PAIN, BUT WILL ALSO BRING DOWN THE INFLAMMATION WHICH IS A MAIN REASON BEHIND THE PAIN.

My boyfriend did the same thing. Go to any pharmacy they all sell toothache cream. What is does is it numbs your mouth like crazy. Don't chew on the side of your mouth with the cracked tooth and use the medicine if you accidently do.
