My mother is deathly afraid of the dentist so I was only taken 2 times as a child so long ago that I don't even remember it. I just turned 18 and made an appointment for myself which is tomorrow but now i'm starting to get freaked out. Is it really that bad? I take pretty good care of my teeth but recently i've had this intense pain deep in my gums where my wisdom teeth are. ( they haven't even finished growing in yet) What can i expect ?

This morning while flossing my filling came out. If I drink water it's VERY VERY sensitive, and chewing gum, and that's all that I know of since I havent tried to chew anything else over there. My mom can't get me back to the dentist until the 31st. I looked up what I should do and it says to brush after every meal but I don't really see how I can since it will hurt.. what should I do?

I am a Junior in Highschool and i was thinking about becoming a dentist, orthodontist or specialize in cosmetic dentistry. I just need to know a couple of things:
1. I was wondering what are some of the best colleges that offer a pre-dental program.
2. Right now i am taking A.P. Physics and i want to know which course is better to take in my senior year A.P. Chemistry or A.P. Biology, which will help me prepare for courses i will be taking in college and for my career choice.
3. one last thing is that it will take me abotu 8 years to become a dentist, are their any schools that offer a special program that will shorten the time period before i can get a DDS.

Probably wasn't the smartest thing but I put a piece of sugarless gum in my mouth about 3 hours after my cavity was filled and I chewed once on the side of the cavity and it sent the nerves wild and I spit the gum out. Also it feels like a very small piece of the filling is raised. I can feel it with my tongue. Is that normal because I feel like the dentist didnt do the best job??

I've tried willpower and some suggestions but they don't work, and all my mom says is 'Don't do it' which doesn't really help.

I got really sick earlier and threw up my lunch, now my tongue feels really weird in spots, almost like it was burnt, and when I checked it in the mirror, I saw orange-coloured spots with whitish rings around their edges, almost like blisters. I've smoked a million times before and this is more than a little strange, but I was stressed, so I may have smoked a part-drag of the filter on my second cig- I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. Please help me out here; should I be worried?

I had a root canal about 3 years ago on a molar and the dentist never placed a crown on it. My original enamel was left around it. Well last week that enamel totally crushed when I was eating and broke. Now I just have little blackened enamel around the root canal pin in my gum and it is causing a ton of pain. It almost feels like the enamel broke off in my gum.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? My tooth is aching badly and tomorrow I have an appointment to go in to the dentist. I am scared about losing this tooth :(

I noticed that the dentist did not put a bracket on the very back teeth [they only put the top set on today]. Why do you think this is?

I am strongly considering getting it done soon..over spring break coming up, so it has some time to heal...but will it enable me to keep playing the clarinet...or playing it comfortably? I WOULD get it done farther back..but would it cause a problem?

I am 22 years old and I haven't been to the dentist in four years. I have naturally nice teeth, they are very straight and, because I take pretty good care of them at home, white. Because of these factors, I didn't think it was necessary to go to a dentist the entire time I was in college. Lately, I have noticed that my rear teeth are looking very worn down (my boyfriend told me that I grind in my sleep) and discolored, and my gums don't appear to be in great shape either. I am afraid that when I go to the dentist they are going to think I have the most digusting mouth ever. I know it's a stupid thought- but does anyone have any advice?

I had braces fitted the last week: I know it is too early to see any changes yet, but was just wondering how long others waited before they could see changes/movement of their teeth!!

I had a dental extraction last week and seem to be developing a complication. I have a small hard bump near the site on the inside of my mouth and it is terribly painful. Is this normal after an extraction and if so, what is it? Should I go to the dentist tommorrow, or wait until my stitches are removed next week? thanks in advance for all of the answers.

Do seeing the inside of peoples mouths all day ruin the experience for them?

is the dentist responsible to do this at his cost as he did not do it originally or as he says 25% cases develop a need to do a root canal after a crown at some point, maybe a year later or even as soon as I have had to do it.

To make a long story short, I went to the dentist because I was in pain. X-rays were taken and showed that the dentist that did the root canal on my paining tooth approximately 3 years ago had left part of an instrument in the canal. This was causing the pain and an infection. The original work was covered by insurance but presently, I am uninsured. What should I do? Go to the original dentist to see if something could be worked out amicably? Settle this matter in court? Or a combination of both? If you have any other suggestions or similar stories, I'm all ears! I'm very hurt and worried and devastated to have seen this strange thing floating in my tooth! I need an outside (hopefully rational!) suggestion! Thank you in advance!

I have an extraction for Friday. Any advice? I had 3 pulled 5 years ago and this is my last wisdom tooth. Never came in which is why I am going to an Oral Surgeon. I am asking on Yahoo cause I am sure I am going to forgot to ask the surgeon while I am there and once the procedure is done, I will be so doped up. Thanks

When a body is found and the police don't know who or why on the case, how are bodies identified from dental records, as I'm sure the discovering parties don't fax every dentist in the u.s. and ask them if they have a match !!

NO DISRESPECT INTENDED!!! I was married to a Brit so I am obviously not putting them down. I was wondering because my ex-husband does have VERY bad teeth though he takes good care of them as far as brushing and flossing. Now our son has the same discoloration and I am wondering if this is a deficiancy or if there is some truth to this and it could be hereditary. He is 8 and his teeth are turning yellow and look a little thin though he recently visited the dentist and brushes well twice a day. His hair is very thick and lusterous though.

What's a really good tooth whitening system?
I am not really concerned with price. I just want a tooth whitening system that really works! It can be either in office or at home. Let me know what you have tried and if it was worth it!!
