They aren't supposed to be on your gums unless you are talking about the big bands that go around your molars. Is it actually glued to your gum or just poking into them? Either way you should call your ortho right away just to make sure that everything is normal. But for now just take Tylenol and eat really soft foods. Try rubbing it a little bit if it doesn't make it any worse. Maybe food is stuck there, brush your teeth really gently.

You may have things touching here and there on the gum. The bracket is placed in the right place on your tooth, and sometimes it can cause the hook on the brace to dig you. You may really short teeth too that need extruded. Get some orajel. Take what you take for a headache every four hours without fail. Very gently - very gently, if you like beef jerky, put a piece in and slide your teeth bck and forth on it. You are not going to rip off a piece and chew it- not on your diet- but it is like rubbing a sore muscle. Slushes and milshakes will make you feel better honest,

NO!!!! Go to see the dentist now! We will have to make sure the braces is not impinging your gum, also no sharp edges. Also, we will give you some wax to cover the prominent part of the braces to prevent injury to your gum or lip or cheek.
So, go back to your dentist asap.
