Try not to worry and oh yes easier said than done, when you go tell the receptionist how nervous you are, they are well used to nervous patients. You say about angels there is a site called beliefnet.com that have an angel for the day and lots of prayers, I like to get the stories from it which are very nice, so give it a try it may be OK but not for others lots of religious things and lots that are not. I get my horoscope from it. Good luck and take care.

Dentistry has changed a lot in the past few years, and there really is much less to be afraid of. But that isn't going to help you right now. You have two options, and you can use either or both to get you through this. First, ask for help from your guardian angel. Give your problem to them, and let them deal with it for you. The second option is to tell your doctor about your panic attacks, and ask for something that will help you overcome them and relax while you are in the chair.
As long as your dentist also knows that you are a white knuckled patient, he'll help allay your concerns.
You WILL conquer this fear. I believe in your strength of character.

Do a good workout before you go, that will release endorphins that will naturally help you feel good. While in the parking lot, sit in your car and inhale deeply through your mouth and exhale through your nose 10 times. Just keep reminding yourself dentistry has come a long long way. My husband and kids have had tons of serious dental work done and never felt anything. They are great now.

Just think of a dreamy place your are at, and not the dentist. Listen to soft music before you go.
A quick way to relax is to clench you body parts for a few seconds then relax them. begin at the neck, then hands, etc, finally ending with your toes.
Do you know how I over came my dislike of the dentist, I thought of the worst news he could tell me, and that was to have all my teeth out, then I thought of a doctor and the worst news form him, "your so ill we can do anything, we give you Weeks/months to live' my fear of the dentist lessen,. hope My advice is helpful to you.

Dentists have a lot of ways to ease anxiety nowadays if it's a serious problem. One of the best things to do is to make sure the dentist knows how nervous you are!

You could try praying. As for relaxing, don't think about it. when you get in the chair just relax as much as you can and remember to breath. I had that problem with getting fillings I hated the needle with a vengence. but my dentist numbed my gums and told my to close my eyes. You'll be okay.
