I am strongly considering getting it done soon..over spring break coming up, so it has some time to heal...but will it enable me to keep playing the clarinet...or playing it comfortably? I WOULD get it done farther back..but would it cause a problem?

I would assume you would no longer be able to play effectively.

Not sure about playing the clarinet but you can easily cause damage to your lower teeth, i have seen many patients who have chipped their teeth whilst wearing a tongue piercing!

as long as you get it done at a reputable piercer who has full cross infection control procedures and they put it in the right place you should be fine.

If it does interfere you can always remove it.

just think carefully about it before you get it done as there are risks to your teeth but I can't say that I've ever seen a patient who's damaged their teeth on a piercing but seen plenty who've damaged teeth on fruit, biscuits, sandwiches, sausages etc!

If that's pierced so on the factor of the top that it touches the reed then truthfully definite- additionally if the piercing is so heavy or loose that it impacts the flow of your tongue. you could evaluate removing it once you play.

Yes it will spoil your `lip` my daughter had a bad accident which cut her tongue and lip and it took a year for her to be able to play again properly. She was lucky and was able to recover, it depends on whether you play for fun or as a career as the whether it matters much to you.

Don't do it. It really looks nasty and people don't even speak right when they have their tongue pierced. It's gross and you can get very serious infections from them.
