I got two silver fillings a few weeks ago, and whenever something cold touches them it hurts really badly. Does anyone know how long it takes before this stops happening? It is a little better than when I first got them, but I really miss ice cream :-).

I have an extreme underbite and my dentist said that only jaw surgery will fix it. However, I'm wondering what the cost would be like? Can someone estimate the amount of money for me? My bottome jaw is around 7mm farther than my top jaw. Will the surgery leave any permanent scars on my face? And do you know how old the person has to be to get the surgery??

I had a tooth extracted almost a week ago. I am still in horrible pain. I have been to the dentist twice since to have it packed and he has told me it is healing well and I do not have dry socket. What else could be wrong? The tooth itself was quite large and it was difficult getting it out, could I have some kind of nerve damage? Or perhaps the roots of the adjacent teeth were effected? When I asked my dentist how long the pain usually lasts he said "usually not this long" but didn't have any answers for me except to give me more pain killers. Any ideas on what this might be?

I'm 17 and I used to not take care of my teeth. Now I brush my teeth every day and I went to the dentist about a month ago for a cleaning. She cleaned my teeth and now I brush 3 times a day. She said my gums were inflamed but that they would be ok as long as I brush and floss. However, I realized that when I push my teeth really hard and then push them with my tongue, they feel like they kinda move but I cant actually see them move. Is it normal to feel that? Would my dentist have said something if my teeth are loose? She also took x-rays. And you know how your gums are also between your teeth. It looks like the gums around one of my teeth arent as long, like some of the gum disapeared but not that much. How serious is that. Is it too late to save all of my teeth from falling out? This is all that i think about now.

Recently following a cut caused by some chips to the roof of my mouth (It had healed before I noticed this), I noticed if I suck my top set of gums moderatly hard, I can extract a certian quantity of blood. This quantity is not consistant, but never really amounts to more than about a shot glass's worth. I brush, floss, and use listerine 2-3 times a day, and have healthy teeth and gums. What should I do? should I continue to keep this "pocket" clear, or let it go away on its own?

I am 29 years old and I finally want to do something about my teeth, they are not horrible but they need straightening, can anyone tell me if I should consider invisalign? Or is the traditional metal better? Also will my insurance cover the cost? (Naturally I know I would have to look at my plan and call them, I meant in general is this something that insurance companies support) And finally roughly what will it cost me?

I had a root canal on one of my molars about 3 weeks ago. The tooth in front of it was hurting after I got my permanent crown put on. I had to get fillings on my left side last week and asked my dentist what was up with my crown. Turns out it had shifted. She took it off & put a temp crown on. Now the tooth in front of the molar with the temp crown is in HORRIBLE pain. I can't sleep. If I lay down, it hurts horribly. I went yesterday and she was only gonna send me home, telling me to take Motrin. I got upset because of lack of sleep, so she gave me hydrocodone (which doesn't help) and a mouth guard, for my clenching in my sleep.

I haven't slept in 3 days. I don't know what to do. Is there anything I can put on the tooth, at least long enough to let me get some sleep? Should I go to another dentist? She took an x-ray and didn't see anything wrong with the tooth (that's also what happened with the tooth that got the root canal, the endodontist determined it needed a rc).

I think I need a root canal even though the dentist said he couldn't see anything on the x-ray.

The thing is, I feel pressure and the other day pain. But I am afraid of dental procedures since I had one recently which was botched.

I want to get pregnant by next year. Should I consider having my root canal before then? I was wondering if being pregnant could cause general inflammation in my body and how that wouldn't be good to have it fixed while pregnant.

Basically, can I keep putting it off. I'd like to put it off until it gets infected, then mentally I won't care what happens.

Thanks.

Well you see my braces have taken a chunk of my cheeck out and i cant eat and barely talk because it hurts so bad. so I know I wouldnt be able to do good in school and i cant afford to lower my grades. Should I stay home just one day to get to feeling better? The only reason I'm asking is because if I stay home I'll only have 1.5 days left. But the only reason im ever gone from school is because of an apointment. [well ive been sick a few times but still not often]
