Was wondering if someone knew a cure. I have a tooth that has broken off at the top right by my gumline and now my gums are sore a swollen. It's starting to swell my face. I don't get to go the dentist until next week. Anyone know of a way to decrease the swelling and pain? I think it might be infected also..Thanks

My best friend has two molars that have actually begun to decay and turn black. She hasn't gone to see a dentist yet because she claims to have a dental phobia. However, in the past two years or so since she has told me about her teeth getting bad, she has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and an overexcited nervous system where her fingers often jiggle or tremor. She hasn't mentioned her tooth problem to her doctor either. Is there a correlation between teeth "rotting" and other aspects of a person's health, such as heart health and nervous system health? And where can I get more information on the web to convince her that there may be a connection?

I've read about it but do the gums recede between your teeth or do they recede above and below the teeth. Same thing with the the pockets. Where are they and how do I know if I have them. I was at the dentist a month ago, and he said my gums were inflamed but he would have told me if I had recession or pockets around my teeth right?

I have sole legal/physical custody of my 9 yr old and 6 yr old. My ex is supposed to pay child support, but hasnt paid in almost a year. We have insurance, but anything uncovered or not fully covered is to be split 50/50. My 9 yr old is supposed to get braces, but if i cant get $300 in child support, how am I supposed to get $1000 to help with the braces? I realize I'm probably being a b*tch, but I'm sick of him sliding by doing nothing while my new husband and I pay for everything. Between insurance and the FLEX plan I have at work, we can cover the whole cost of the braces, but I want the ex to put in his part. How can I make him help with something his son needs?

I brush my teeth twice a day, once after breakfast, and before I go to bed. I do not use Listerine though or floss.

I had a cavity filled on Tuesday (the 20th). I had already had a previous cavity in this tooth filled with amalgam, and my dentist removed this filling, removed the cavity, and replaced it with a composite filling. I noticed that this new filling has chipped and fallen out, leaving a large gap on the occusal surface of my first molar. The gap is dark in colour, leading me to beleive that there is still amalgam in the tooth (there is no way I developed massive decay in one day) where the composite was laid.

Obviously I am calling my dentist first thing tomorrow to schedule an emergency appointment, but is there anything I can do to protect my tooth in the meantime? Since discovering the hole I have been genty brushing it regularily, and using a needle-less syringe to flush it with fluoride-containing listerine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting my wisdom teeth out on friday, so this needs to be resolved before then.

THANKS!!

I was treated for gum disease, I also need to get wisdom teeth pulled out and fillings done but I have only received the gum disease treatment and I have appointments for the other things. This entire treatment is about $6160 and I am now having seconds doubts about this entire amount. I have signed paperwork in order to get the treatment started and follow up with the rest, but I feel hesistant, can I back down on the rest and only get charged for what has been performed? Do I have a right to do this, can the dentist truly deny me this? I am not sure what type of rights I have as a patient, unfortunately I have to do this due to my sister being sick in the hospital and I need to help her out financially so I have to minimize my expenses and I do not think I can fully pay this treatment cost, except for part of it at least. Someone please provide me with some advice because I do not know how to approach my dentist's office about this.

we took her to a couple dentists, and one said it was her wisdom tooth, so she got it pulled, but she still had the pain afterward, and just today it started coming back again and driving her crazy... this has all been over the course of aobut 6 months... any ideas as to what it could be? she says its not a constant pain when it comes, she descrides it as "snapping", real quick bursts of pain that keep coming one after another...

The dentist accidentaly sliped the instrument on my lip when he was sanding the new crown, and the cut quickly became cold sore, which I never had it before, and one of the nurse had cold sore a couple of weeks ago, and it kept reoccoring, and I have all the pictures, and so does the doctor.
