we took her to a couple dentists, and one said it was her wisdom tooth, so she got it pulled, but she still had the pain afterward, and just today it started coming back again and driving her crazy... this has all been over the course of aobut 6 months... any ideas as to what it could be? she says its not a constant pain when it comes, she descrides it as "snapping", real quick bursts of pain that keep coming one after another...

Of course, we can't diagnose her if the people who actually saw her can't figure this out but...

Consider trigeminal neuralgia or tic doloreux. Your description of snapping, quick bursts of pain suggests this to me.

Then again, it could be "just" TMJ dysfunction, but that would be easier to figure out and most dentists would make a proper diagnosis. Hopefully.

the nervous system can be really strange. It could be that there is Pressure on one of your sister's nerves. This could be caused by swelling of the tissues, trauma, or other. See if an Ibuprofen helps at all, if it does it may be swelling. Does she have any root canals.

If you do not want to go to a pain specialist maybe you can talk to an acupuncturists they know a lot about the nervous system and may be able to offer some relief.

It depends on the location. If it is localized (pain is mainly in one area), you can see an endodontist (they are the ones that do root canals). Good luck.
