I'd like to mention the tooth was finished being worked on in 2003, It was a perment filling. If i don't have to go to the denist id like to keep it that way if i have to. I put the filling back in and its staying there. But id still like to know your answers?

I have the same dilemma, no insurance and dental problems, if you have a dental college close to you I've had good experiences and very reasonable cost. I happen to be close to the University of Iowa and have used their dental school twice now. Good Luck!

The root canal filling? If this is the case, usually the filling material that goes in after a root canal is only temporary. The good news is that, if you already had a root canal, getting a final restoration (filling) will seem a light easier on the checkbook. However, some teeth need crowns after a root canal, which can be upwards of $500+ depending on where you live. Many dental practices offer payment plans. Call a few and see what you can work out. It would be a shame to end up losing that tooth, and the money already invested in it if you put it off for too long.

Unfortunately, if the filling covering your root canal treated tooth has fallen out, it only takes approximately 2 days for the canal space to become contaminated with bacteria again to the point where you may need the root canal re-treated....
