Not everyone has problems.
Most people it's because once the wisdom teeth grow in it pushes all your other teeth, and the become unalogned.
another reason why some people get them removed, my dentist told me, is because it's hard to get the tooth brush back there, so most people's wisdom teeth rot out anyway, so they just get them pulled.
But I still have mine, perfectly healthy, and same with my mom.

Reasons for removing wisdom teeth
The following are the main reasons for having a wisdom tooth removed.
Infection in the gums around the wisdom tooth.
Decay in the wisdom tooth that cannot be treated by a filling.
If the wisdom tooth is causing damage to the tooth next to it.
If a cyst forms around the wisdom tooth.
Decay in the tooth next to the wisdom tooth which cannot be treated without removing the wisdom tooth.
There are other less common reasons for having a wisdom tooth removed. Your dentist or surgeon can discuss these with you.

"Like many high school age kids, I was advised by my orthodontist that I should have my wisdom teeth removed when I was young. Even though it was a painful few days of recovery after my wisdom teeth were taken out, it turned out to be excellent advice... "

Because when they first come in they may seem like they have enough room when in riality, what happens is the teeth begin to migrate to the front of your mouth. This crunches all the other teeth which can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage inside your mouth, not to mention pain!! It's a little scary to have them taken out but it is in your best intrest. It really isn't as bad as it sounds.

They don't have to be taken out unless they are causing problems. My daughters had to be removed because they were on their side and pushing her other teeth forward quite a bit. They were not able to even come out through her gum because of the sideways aspect.

The only time they usually have to be taken out is if they are crowding other teeth, are causing discomfort, or are impacted. If none of the above applies, then usually they can stay. All 4 of mine were impacted and had to be pulled.

Not all of them have to be taken out. They need to be removed because they are pushing on your other teeth. As you are experiencing, your wisdom tooth is causing the others to misalign. Before they misalign the entire tooth environment, dentist advise to have them removed.

They are quite bothersome as they seem to move up and down in the gums and don't just come through and stay. Also a dentist once told me they could become malignant.
