I got two silver fillings a few weeks ago, and whenever something cold touches them it hurts really badly. Does anyone know how long it takes before this stops happening? It is a little better than when I first got them, but I really miss ice cream :-).

It takes an amalgam filling appx. 2 weeks for the cold sens. to calm down. It really depends how deep it went. Advil is great for this and using a straw. It will get better.

Now I'm nervous. I just got 3 yesterday and was hoping of only being in pain another couple of days. I've been using ambesol and tylenol. I'm not sure how long it will take to go away. Try using a straw when drinking and taking small bites if you're eating something cold so you can direct it away from the filling area.
