I have really bad teeth they are decayed some are chipped off and have cavaties in them. I need to get them fixed but I have a hard time telling a dentist that I have negelted my teeth for so long, as a child I maybe seen a dentist 10 times. I hate my smile I do not like to smile anymore. What can be done to fix my teeth without having to pull them all and get dentures at 28 years old?

Please help

The dentist says that the surface enamel of the molars contains naturally occuring gaps and valleys which can trap food and become decayed. She suggests drilling to enlarge the gaps and valleys and then filling in the enlarged spaces with a veneer. The veneer is subject to wear and tear and needs to be removed and replaced every couple years. Does this make sense? I would love to hear from a parent who has experienced this, or from a mature person who had this done at some earlier time, or from dental professional. Thanks.

...it cos judging fm x-ray, it will cause temporary to permament damage on nerves to my left side of face. Gum covers 70% of it and that's the area that decay. The 30% exposed has been kept well. Dentise adv only if it gets worse, then need to consider to take out the one before it, let the wisdom teeth come out a bit more so lesser risk of damaging the nerve....where shall i seek 2nd opinion? Is it feasible to have the exposed area drilled, so that I can at least keep the 'leftover' of the wisdom teeth clean to avoid surgery that will damage the nerve???

Hi, I have a cavity on the tooth that I went to get cleaned up. The dentist told me that I needed a root canal or either to remove it. The tooth is on the left upper top corner at the back. The dentist put the white filling, but then I still started to have pain a few days later. Yesterday I was sleeping and when I woke up I felt a bump on the gum where that tooth is which I think it swolled up a little. Then today I wake up again and the swollen on the gum got a little bigger, but I have no pain on the tooth or gum if I dont touch it or anything even if I drink (which is good because I was having pain like hell last week). So I had an appointment today to extract it, but since I thought It can be dangerous of the swollen gum where the tooth is to extract Im not going. Ill just wait till its unswollen. Are there any methods to save the tooth (Not root canal)? I heard that there is. Anyway also is it dangerous to extract a tooth when the gum is swollen? How do I unswollen the gum? Thank

I had interproxial decay in between my front left tooth and the one next to it, and I got a filling for it, about 2 or 3 weeks ago. As soon as my mouth was unfrozen, when I tried to bite something, there was a sharp pain in the tooth, almost like a shock. Even when I pressed on the tooth with my finger, it would get the same pain. Since the holidays were on, I didn't call my dentist yet, but it's been about 3 weeks since the filling, and the pain is still there, but a lot duller. This filling was done with the drill, blue light-thing etc. I remember at the very end, after the filling was in, the dentist got the drill and drilled a little bit around, so perhaps he exposed a nerve or something. Is this normal, or should I call my dentist?
