bleeding gums is a sign of gingivitis or gum disease.

you need to see your dentist to determine how severe the gum damage is and what treatment to seek.

with severe gum disease-special teeth cleaning, medications, and frequent checkups are necessary to rid your mouth of the bacteria

get it checked out quickly as this can spread causing secondary illnesses to the rest of your body and can eventually damage the bones in your mouth

I have to go with the person that said that the dentist told their daughter it's actually healthy for your gums to bleed.. I have gone to the same dentist All my life, they done all my work on my teeth as a regular dentist, and then when all my teeth came in, also put braces on and took them off.. They also told me it was a good thing that my gums bled when I brush as that meant I was brushing good.. It calmed down when I grew up a bit and learned how important it is to brush teeth, lol. So when I brushed regularly my gums toughened up and it isn't that big of a problem now.

Are you a smoker? Cause if you are smoking wears down the gums. Try using a soft bristle brush. You may also have gingavitis and if you do you will need to get a mouthwash that has antibiotics in it.

You might just be brushing or flossing too hard. Ease up a bit and see what happens. If this persists you should call your hygienist and set up for a cleaning. You should have 2 a year regardless.

if you breathe through your mouth at night that can make your gums dry and sensitive...my friend had that situation and the dentist gave a special rinse to help, there's special toothpastes too. also, be cafeful what mouthwash you use..I used listerine every night before bed and was advised to switch to crest prohealth bc it didn't have alcohol and thus didn't make your mouth as dry.
