My wisdom teeth are growing in and I'm a little nervous about being put under to remove them--no way I will stay awake for it. I've had no known health problems but I've used drugs recreationally in the past. Never went too overboard but my oral surgeon said given that if I had previously used drugs being put under is very unsafe. Is this true? Should I have an EKG just to have my wisdom teeth removed? I didn't think I got that crazy but it 'not waking up' a possibility?

I have to get my bottom 2 wisdom teeth taken out. I know someone that went to sleep for the procedure while another was awake the whole time. They both said that they felt ok after it was done. The last time I saw the specialist he suggested that I go under but with the world the way it is today I don't want to get robbed or be taken advantage of while being under. I would have to drive myself back and forth anyway because I don't know anyone else that could be there for me during the day. I know that the procedure would take a while and that my mouth would be majorly sore afterwards because of it staying open for so long. Which is better general or local anesthesia?

Whats it like? Has it affected any aspect of your personal life like eating, or kissing? My worst fear is that they fall out while I am doing that.

There are no pediatric dentists in my area (central IL). So I had to travel to Terre Haute, IN and they dont accept the medical card. My bill estimate for my daughter totals up to $831.00. Does anyone know of a pedicatric dentist in the central IL area that accepts the medical card?

i have a tooth with a cavity in it but i've been puting off going to the dentist because i'm a big baby, the idea of someone scraping my teeth....ugh!) Besides that i'm 7 months pregant and don't think they can give me numbing medication but now the tooth has been hurting for so long that the pain has settled in the bottom of my jaw and its hard for me to eat or even sleep. I'll wake up in the middle of the night with it throbbing. I use orajel and ambasol all the time but the pain has gone so deep now that its not reaching. what do u think it is and do u think it can wait til after i deliver? What can i do to relieve the pain besides the obvious rinsing with salt water, listerine, and over the counter oral meds? HELP!!!!!

Curious what the symptoms of a root canal are compared to symptoms of a filling? I had some slight throbbing lastnight, but not today. I am not sensitive to hot or cold that I know of. What are the symptoms of a root canal vs. a cavity filling? Any dentist or endontists out there that can advise? Thank you.

Ok, I am trying to get help with my tooth situation so I am going to list my symptoms and hopefully some professionals can help me determine what it "could" mean.

1. Slight throbbing feeling
2. Sensitive to pro-long exposure to cold air
3. No tapping pain
4. No sensitivity to hot or cold liquids
5. There is a cavity present already

If a Professional could help me that would be great. I have an appointment in 2 wks with my dentist. Thank you!
