To move my lower jaw forward 4mm will cost me $15,300 in sugeon fees and $10,000 in hospital sugery fees i am at a loss. I have had my braces on for almost 3 years now and am just now being told I need this sugery. I am a full time student going into the dentistry field, hence I need this done. Insurance won't pay because they say it's pre-existing so I'm looking for more options. I am very scared to go abroad but am willing to consider the most credited, reputable, experienced Dr. I can find. I know here there is American Board Certified Dr.'s, but what kind of accredited Dr.'s would I look for in maybe Mexico? Any info or referals would help.
Thanks,
Misty

My friend and I are debating if drinking coffee through a straw will help prevent our teeth from turning yellow and stained. Is it a dumb idea?

I've taken to eating a lime every day for the vitamin C content, and as I like sharp tastes. However, as they're quite acidic, is this any worse for the teeth than eating any other fruit? This is presuming, of course, that all normal dental hygiene is carried out.

My old dentist used a water drill not the old style metal drill for fillings - that would be perfect if this dentist used the new technology. I am not a great patient so I need laughing gas - well..... want laughing gas. Plus I want someone that uses the white fillings, sealants, and can do teeth whiting. Needs to take BC/BS of florida or is a Shands provider. Any referrals?

I cant afford one of these posh toothbrushes that can clean your tongue but I use a nail brush on my tongue at least once a week.
what else can I do?

How old were you when you got braces?

hi there, im 15 and i still havent got my braces although i have had a couple of appointments with my orthodontist. the only thing that is causing me not to have them yet is that i still have 2 baby teeth left..is this normal? i am a slow grower (small height, my nails /hair grow slow e.t.c.) and could this be the reason why my teeth stages move on slowly? how old were you when you had braces? thank y

Is fruit bad for your teeth? I'd imagine they're similar to sweets and I can't think of a reason why natural sugar would be better for your teeth than proccessed sugars.

Do you know?

a dentist i went to while travelling found vertical cracks in my two lower front teeth, probably acquired by my lifelong nail-biting habit. (the cracks, not the teeth, obviously...)

she advised putting on a sealant when i got home, not having time to do it at the time. my home dentist said this would be wasted effort, that nothing could be done unless the cracks progressed, and of course told me to stop biting my nails.

extra info - the tops of those teeth are transparent - you can see a darkish area behind the enamel. my teeth are sensitive to cold, air, and pressure, but only sometimes.

thanks
