I had my wisdom teeth pulled out about 5 months ago, my right side healed up, but my gums on my left side have been hurting. someone told me that you could get really sick if they get infected, and you could get headaches. Any thoughts? comments? Need to know soon!!

This situation is crazy.
Are these people medical professionals or just 9 to 5 office workers? Hospitals and Doctors are working 24 / 7 to deal with emergencies but you try and find a dentist after 5:00pm. No chance.

During the holiday season they are supposed to provide emergency cover. So you phone the surgery and are given the two emergency contact numbers. You then phone them only to be informed that they are also closed and you just go around in circles. I have been trying for 5 hours without susses.

OK so I have given up now and will just overdose on pain killers until after the New Year. I am strong so I can deal with it. But what if it was my 6 year old child? How do you explain to a 6 year old that he is going to have to suffer until Tuesday?

I don’t think these morons should be allowed to setup private practises if they can’t even sort out something as basic as the emergency cover schedule. Yet again the A&E departments will have to step in and take the strain.

because I have a twin and we both need them well i am on my own now i don't want to feel like i am missing out on oppurtunities because of my appearance don't get me wrong I think i am doing fine now because i have a great personality, and a good attitude i have a good job and two kids but i won't be as discourage if my teeth are better i went last year to see the orthodontist paid my down payment but at the time i couldn't afford the monthly payments i'll be 24 in february when i get them and have to wear them for 2 1/2 years my question is how does this affect the adult life having to wear braces so late in life? and how long will it take my teeth to start straightening out?

I'm sitting here with a really bad toothache and a swollen jaw, and I can't get to the dentist until after the New Year. I'm taking Ibuprofen and lots of hot salty water, so it's bearable.

But it just occurred to me to wonder, given that in the past people could die from tooth problems:-

What do people who live in the jungle or the desert or any of the other inhospitable places on the planet do?

Do they have remedies we don't know about, or perhaps they don't get tooth problems because they have such a natural, unrefined and unprocessed diet.

Taken Hydrocordone for toothache pain every 6 hours as instructed. Not really effective, Have old Lortab (2004), would this be a more effective medication. Have appointment with dentist next week. Trying to make it through the weekend. May have to give up and go the ER? Trying to avoid doing that if possible.

I didn't have much swelling or bruising afterwards and have not smoked or used a straw, although I did eat "real food" after the 3rd day. I am still kind of sore, but I am okay after taking some Advil. However, I'm concerned because my mouth tastes/smells funny. I have been brushing my teeth very lightly because I'm afraid of hurting myself, but I read that a weird taste/smell could be a sign of dry socket. Ugh. Am I paranoid? Also, I used a straw briefly (3 seconds), a small one, before I remembered not to, and today I sucked some icing off my fingers, also before remembering not to. AGHHH!

So. Should I still be a little sore? Is the taste/smell thing a dry socket or do I just need to brush harder? :(
