When a dentist enters dental school they take an oath to help people and do no people harm. Dentists have ethical obligations to their patients to treat them equally, fairly and appropriately (i.e. treat the patient how they need to be treated, nothing more, nothing less).

Also, dentists are Doctors (just like MDs, PhDs, etc etc) and as Doctors dentists have an obligation to teach (doctor=to indoctrinate). Whether that be in a classroom or in their office teaching their patients...doesn't matter. The important thing is that they not only treat your oral conditions and help you become healthy, but they educate and inform you on how you can take care of yourself.

I'm a dentist.

Our obligations to our patients are identical to those of physicians.
