I would have to say 3 things.

1. When you smile very hard and big and your upper lip gets caught and hurts painfully.

2. When you go back to the dentist usually to get them tightened. The snapping of the rubberbands (colors things) hurt like crazy. Especially if your teeth are sensative.

3. And last would have to be getting the hooks in the side of your mouth caught to your inner cheek. It pulls and cut you inner cheek so it hurt painfully. Dentist usually give you wax to put on it, but the wax falls off very easily and works for only 10 minutes.

Other than that though, I would have to say that braces aren't that bad and the ending result should be beautiful.

the first two weeks is probably the worst part if not having to wear a retainer AFTER braces. I didn't even bother wearing the retainer after a couple months, so I basically wasted my money. You can't bite on anything during the first week of braces because your teeth will be so sore; it feels like having a loose tooth except in every tooth. (If you are getting braces and you want an awesome donut color choose the "yellow green." it's the best color in my opinion. My dentist also told me about a glow in the dark one, but I never had the chance to try it.)

Okay, first off, let me say this:
BRACES DO NOT MAKE YOU LOOK UGLY!

My gosh its like saying effing glasses make you look ugly.

Well, I just got my braces 2 weeks ago, so Im guessing that the worst part is getting them tightened every 4-6 weeks. After getting them on, it took me about 4 days to get used to them. And after that Im like 'oh this wont be so bad' but then I remembered that you have to go get them tightened! I mean, it wont hurt, just be more uncomfortable for a few days. Or when the wire is too long and it pokes your cheek, that already happened to me. It hurts, but call your orthodontist if this happens and make an appointment to get them trimmed down and tell them that its bothering you. =]

GOOD LUCK!!
And remember, if people call you ugly with braces (which they do not make you ugly!!) just remember that YOU are the one is going through this to have a beautiful smile, and YOU will come out of this with a better smile than them!

If you wanna know any more you can email me =)

purely getting used the the sensation is kinda stressful, besides the undeniable fact that it gets extra effective after a while...purely whilst the tighten your braces thats the worst or suited whilst they positioned them on for the 1st time...its going to harm yet purely take a a million or 2 advil once you like them. your tooth will purely be sore for an afternoon or 2 or much extra yet that would substitute consistent with how tight they're! sturdy success and im getting braces for the 2d time next month :P yet wish each thing is going sturdy

- Plaque forms easily when food is retained in and around braces.

- Mouth sores may be triggered by irritation from components of the braces.

- Brackets may pop off due to the forces involved

- Pain is common after adjustment and may cause difficulty eating for a time, often several days.

I wore braces as a teen and I hated it, mostly because I felt like a "metal mouth." They were worth wearing because I have beautiful teeth and a gorgeous smile today. I also hated food getting stuck in them and being restricted from chewing gum. The worst is going to the orthodontist monthly and having them tighten ted- it hurt.

I know what the worst part was for me---it was when for whatever reason I had not been able to tighten my rubberbands every month or so as scheduled and my orthodontist's assistant decided to double or triple tighten them to catch up. I was in so much pain I had difficulty not crying in the office. On the whole though, it wasn't the worst thing I've been through in my life.

I thought the taste of the cement was the worst. The second wordt thing is this: if you don't clean your teeth properly {i had a crappy orthodontist} there can be these little dents right below your gumline on your teeth.... so go out and buy a toothbrish specifically for braces, and floss.... for the love of god floss

Not being able to eat apples....braces cutting into the inside of your mouth. Braces suck but are worth it in the end.

Eating hard-skinned fruit. The peels get stuck on the hook (used for those rubber bans) brace attached on the molar in the back of one's mouth, making it difficult to remove.
