Advil is a good pain relief choice but if it's swelling then there is an infection that needs antibiotics. Call your dentist and see if there is an emergency # on the answering machine. Explain about the pain and swelling and they should call in a prescription for you. If you don't have a dentist then an ER doctor will do the same thing if you go in to the hospital. That will help with the pain. Eventually you'll have to go into the dentist to take care of things permanently. Good luck...these things usually don't go away on their own.

Home remedy for toothache:

Use of boiled guava leaves as a gargling solution. In a saucepan, heat four to five guava leaves until it comes to a near boil. Allow the solution to warm. Then, use the solution in washing the mouth letting the liquid penetrate into the hole of the tooth for several seconds. Repeat this for quite a number of times and you will be surprised to feel a considerable relief from pain.

In the absence of guava leaves however, some people employs the use of a salt solution as a home remedy for toothache. It is done to cleanse the tooth and also to lessen the pain.

Just mix two to three teaspoons of salt in a glass of water. The salt draws out some of the fluids causing the swelling and has a general soothing effect. The saltwater rinse also cleans the areas around the infected tooth. Even unsalted lukewarm water (about body temperature) can flush out an irritating piece of rotting food and provide some relief.

Call 1-800-dentist and see if you can see a dentist TONIGHT. There are dentists who will open their office to see a patient who is in pain. You can get a product at the pharmacy to put on the painful area - it's in a tube and it does work to a degree. Avoid very hot or cold beverages. Take two Tylenol with 8 ounces of room temperature water. I would call your dentist NOW and tell the answering service that you need to be seen tonight. Give it a try and I hope you start feeling better soon. Toothaches are no fun.

Tooth ache? Try taking Tylenol or other pain relievers. Then make sure you go to the dentist tomorrow! =]

Take an antibiotic, there is certainly an infection going on and antibiotics are the only thing that can heal it.

p.s. Don't you have E.R. in hospitals over there? If I were you, I'd go there immediately.
