At the Dental Office I work at we charge $150 per arch for the initial treatment kit ( expected price range would be from $125 to $200) This price does include the fabrication of the custom trays. There are 5 syringes of the bleaching gel per kit and there is generally enough there for at least 10 treatments. Generally "refills" of the bleaching agent would cost $50.00.

There are newer and faster types of In-Office bleaching, the Zoom system is by far the most common and should run about $275 - $350. Some patients do require more then one treatment with Zoom so it can get rather costly.

We also sell the professional strength Crest White Strips in our office. Price range for these should be somewhere between $45 and $80. We have actually found that for many patients the White Strips are more effective and less likely to cause sensitivity.

You can purchase the White Strips at almost any drug store now, I would encourage you to try them first to see if you can get the results you are seeking.

(The estimated prices above are only approximate as different dentists in different areas will have varying fees)

As we get older, teeth have a natural progression to go yellower.
Cosmetic dentistry is now more popular than ever.

Bleaching your teeth is very safe to do, but there are different ways to getting a "whiter" smile.
Your teeth will only whiten to their inherit colour and any fillings that are present will not change due to the material they are made from.

You can purchase the "paint on" from the supermarket but this doesn't stay on your teeth long enough and I find that it's a waste. This can be quite cheap, about $20.

The other option is to see your dentist and ask for "zoom" or laser bleaching. This is very expensive and could cost well over $1200. This takes about 1 hour in office and can make your teeth very very sensitive (I mean for days and days).

The best option I would suggest, is a home bleaching kit. Trays are made from moulds that are taken of your mouth and then a small amount of slow releasing peroxide paste is placed in the trays and inserted into your mouth. This process takes about 1 hour and is done everyday for up to 10 days.
The good thing about this is that is costs aout $300 and you will always have the trays. You can purchase "top up" bleaching syringes if you notice that the shade has dropped back again or if you have a special occasion.

This is how I bleach my teeth and it works but remember not to eat or drink anything for a couple of hours otherwise you are just chasing your tail. Avoid red wine, tea/coffe, tobacco and spicy foods as these will stain your teeth whilst bleaching.

Happy New Year!

Depending on where you live, the Zoom whitening treatment costs around $300-600 (that's for all teeth, both top and bottom). My dentist recommending Crest whitening strips and I've had great luck with them. Much less expensive, but probably less whitening effect, as well. The strips are supposed to last several weeks/months, while the Zoom treatment last 6 months to a year.

Hello,

On average, a professional teeth whitening or chair-side treatment will run anywhere between $400-550. Most dentists will charge the full amount, regardless of whether you want the upper or the lower teeth whitened. If you're going to get the procedure done, I would do a full treatment...you'll be sorry if you don't. The difference is dramatic and you'd be suprised by how much you lower teeth show. If you have any questions about the types of whitening treatments available out there, check out the link below. You can also use the site to find a cosmetic dentist in your area who offers complimentary consultations.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Zoom and home whitening are two very different procedures. The going rate among my colleagues in So Cal is $150-250 for home tray whitening, and about $200-400 for Zoom in office whitening. I'm not the biggest Zoom fan; you can read my website for a more thorough explanation.

I don't recommend shopping around for whitening; build a relationship with one local dentist. You may not get the best deal, but you're more like to get the best treatment if you're a regular patient.

Before I was a dentist, my cousins have used white strips with great success. I still recommend them as the best over-the-counter whitening product. But if you have a wide smile or less-than-straight teeth, you really need a dentist dispensed custom tray.

Just be careful... some of these people get their teeth too white (inhumanly white) and it looks silly... please don't over do it. Be happy with what you have! A little whitening is okay, too much is not.
