How old were you when you got braces?

hi there, im 15 and i still havent got my braces although i have had a couple of appointments with my orthodontist. the only thing that is causing me not to have them yet is that i still have 2 baby teeth left..is this normal? i am a slow grower (small height, my nails /hair grow slow e.t.c.) and could this be the reason why my teeth stages move on slowly? how old were you when you had braces? thank y

No, it's not to late, I have saw adults with braces. You don't have to wait to lose all your baby teeth, my daughter had her baby teeth pulled right before getting her braces at 12 yrs old.

I had braces 4 times in my life because I chose the wrong orthodontists. The first guy never had me get teeth pulled, so he botched it twice. I was a young kid then. The last guy was good, but I was 40 years old at the time. He did it with lingual braces (invisible braces). You may want to try that option if you are embarrassed by the look. The braces go on the inside of the teeth, and nobody can see them. Also, there is a new method of moving teeth without braces. It is called Invisalign. Here is their website link: http://www.invisalign.com/generalapp/us/...

Hi, I was 14 when I had my braces. I actually had 9 - YES NINE baby teeth out then a roof brace put on (I had too many teeth for my head). So no, you're not too late.

Don't forget Nicki out of Westlife has just recently had a brace and he's what, late twenties, early thirties?? I am 21 now, and my wisdom teeth have come through which has caused my teeth to move - and you guessed it, I need yet ANOTHER brace. I feel I'm too old at 21, but these things have got to be done for the self reassurance!

It's never too late for braces. I am more than twice your age. I had braces at 13, and my teeth moved back. I just finished Invisalign, and I can't tell you how happy I am to have straight teeth again. It's a big deal to me. So, whether you are 15 or 30, if you want to feel better about yourself, do it when you are ready.

I could not get braces when i was younger because my top jaw was bigger than my bottom jaw. The insurance company would not cover this procedure b/c they were going to have to break my jaw to line them up correctly. I am 27 years old and i have on clear braces right now. i only have to wear them for 2 years. i have 8 months to go and my teeth look perfect [without the surgery they recommended] YOU ARE NEVER TO OLD TO GET BRACES...HANG IN THERE IT WILL ALL WORK OUT. If you really wanted to you could get the baby teeth pulled but I would not rush it unless you really want the braces right now!

I was 8 but it's not too late for braces. Adults get them all the time. If it's embarrassing to you you can always get the braces that are virtually invisible. You do have to wait for your baby teeth to be lost before you can do it though. Good luck.

Personally I have never had them.
My friend Dana, is 44 & just got hers off, her teeth look great.
You may be slow in the growth procuess, but you will catch up in time, go ahead & get those braces, you will be happy with them in the long run.
Good Luck.

never to old take a walk down your local high street and see how many adults have them on. my daughter is 13 and has had them for 2 years, her teeth were really bad, she might be able to have them off in 5 weeks at the next appointment, i had to take her to an emergency brace appointment about 2 weeks after it was fitted with a diffrent dentist and he told me his wife who i had just spoken to on reception had beged him to fix her teeth she was about 28 and had beautiful teeth they will do them when there ready

I just about managed to get away with braces! :P

You can have braces fitted at any age, but it is advisable to get them straightened before you leave full-time education if you have British NHS treatment, otherwise they will cost a bundle. Not sure about the American system; you can have your teeth straightered with a brace at any age, but you are given what you can afford, i.e. 'invisible' braces will be more expensive than your standard metal ones.

I was 16 when I got mine on. It's never to late. I know people who are 40 and getting braces for the first time. Love who and what you are - it's what makes you special and unique.
