I had a root canal years ago. At first they put a regular filling in it. That was fine for a while. Then the filling started cracking.
Eventually I had it capped. It hasn't given me any problems. When you get a root canal your tooth is basically dead since the whole nerve is removed so your tooth will turn gray. I was told, over twenty years ago, that my two front teeth would need root canals but, instead, the dentist drilled up to just before the root, put a post in and filled them. I've never had any problems and I still have my own teeth!
