I pulled 3 of my wisdom teeth about 20 hours ago. When I woke up recently my face has been swollen. Im using an ice pack right now and I'm suppose to use a heat pack in 24 hours. Is there any fast results where I can reduce swelling as fast as possible?

DO NOT RINSE WITH COLD WATER within 3-7 days of your extraction, it will suck out the clots and cause the bleeding to start over again. That's if you are lucky. If you are unlucky, it will give you a very painful dry socket, too!

If you need to clean the area, get an irrigating syringe from your doctor. If you can't get a hold of your doctor, go to the drugstore and pick up a CLEAN baby ear cleaning squirter. Load with lukewarm salt water or saline. Bend over the sink. *Gently* squirt into the extraction site. Let it drool out your mouth; don't spit or swish it out, or you'll bust your clots out.

Ice and heat packs are very beneficial. Ask your doctor if non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Alleve), or celecoxib (Celebrex), are appropriate for you. A prescription strength dose of ONE of these drugs (do not combine them) may reduce your swelling and pain.

I'm a big believer in keeping ahead of things. If someone is reading this BEFORE their surgery, ask your doctor about taking NSAIDs before the the numbness wears off.
