Lets assume a generally healthy person who exercises regularly that caught a common cold. I've heard so much conflicting advice on this that I don't know what to think.

Some people talk about the above the neck / below the neck thing. How about this? If the cold is in your head then go ahead but if its in your chest then take a rest (just made up the rhyme)

I'm generally too stubborn to stop (though I do slow down a bit) and while I feel OK while doing the exercise I almost always feel bad the next day (though I can't tell if I would feel like that anyway)

What about saunas or hot baths?

your thoughts?

I dont know what to tell her and know little about CF.

I have mitral valve prolapse, and occasionally suffer from palpitations, ectopic beats and tachycardia. My symptoms have been pretty benign, but for the past month or so,the palpitations have been bothering me,so my doctor put me on Lopressor. It seems to help some, but I still have skipped beats, which are quite bothersome and unnerving.Does anyone here have this, and what, besides medication,do you find that helps? Thank you.

for months now I have taken my son back and forth to the doctor, at first he told us the "bumps" were skin tags, but when I saw them multiplying I knew my doctor was full of sh*t. A nurse I met in a store told me that my son has this M.C., I googled it and read up on it and everything says it is highly contagious, hmm, hence the name....however NO one in my house other than the baby has this??? Why?? I've called the doctor and here's a shock he had no answer. And I asked about treatment, he said it would go away anywhere from 6-18 months. If this stuff is so contagious, why don't they treat it? Ok and here is anothere question, is this virus a form of warts? I know genital warts are very contagious as well and we have a close fmaily member that has them, he is very careful to keep himself clean but you can never be too careful, is it possible it could be the same thing? The bumps my son has are on the trunk part of his body, not his private parts.

I don´t know what caused it originally and don´t know what I could be doing to aggravate it or what counts as ¨rest.¨ The only thing I do is walk - average of about a mile a day - because I don´t have a car. But I´m going crazy not getting more exercise. I´ve heard conflicting advice about stretching and what to do or not to do in general. Should I do yoga? Stop walking? Specific stretches? Haven´t had much luck with physial therapy either. Can anyone give me advice?

I am spiritual mother(Godmother) to twin girls.Every time I hold one of them, I get the impression of lazy eye. When they were born they weighed about one pound and had to be placed in an incubator. The mother said that the light in the incubator was too bright and one twin was diagnosed as blind. The other had surgery costing about $35,000.She is due for a checkup. The parents could not afford surgery for the other daughter. The doctor said that they would not walk until 5yrs; but they walked at 2yrs.The one who is said to be blind walked to me in the kitchen without bumping into anything. In fact, she walks alone at times.People say she responds to voices but I believe she can see because she has done things without waiting for voices. One time she wandered near the boundary for the property and I cut her off several times.I heard her say''I scared". Her sister wanted me to talk to her Dad- who is dead-on a play phone later that day but I refused. What do you think? What can I do to help?

My best friend is currently recovering from a mastectomy. She said she'd rather poke her eyes out than go to a support group. Her concern is that they would be too negative and not helpful. She's pretty sensitive to/not interested in wallowing (and has the impression that the groups/meetings would be very much about that). She's all about moving on and seeing this experience as positively as possible (she is an inspiration!).

She could use some support and conversation from others that have been through it. I suggested that maybe there are some groups out there that are all about positivity...though I have no clue where. Can anyone suggest a good one (or more)? She lives in the Northeast US. Online sites would be good too.

Thank you!

I have a open wound where they removed a vein in my left leg below the knee. it is about 1/4 in long. It constantly leaks. I change dressing pads at least 3-4 times a day. It has been nine weeks. The doctor says it is slow healing because Iam a diabetic. My blood sugar is under control no problems. I tried wrapping my leg from mid thigh to toe and elevating my leg it is all the same result. It is healing but very very slowly. Any suggestions?

I have been on the pill for awhile now and my periods have been normal. Last month it was *VERY* light, so I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative, but I am having cramps now and am not supposed to start until next week sometime. I also recently started taking some steroids for my whiplash I got last week. I dont' know if that may be effecting it. Anyone had similar problems?

Whenever I have to sit for an extended period of time not doing anything I get so tired and I struggle to keep my eyes open. This is especially embarassing when I'm in a meeting, mind you. I have a reasonable diet, I'm moderately active and for obvious reasons I have to get up and walk around every 20 minutes when I'm at work. I don't think I have narcolepsy....and I definitely don't fall asleep behind the wheel. I average 6-7 hours of sleep. Could I be deprived of certain nurtients or should I just get to bed sooner?

i have tachycardia, and i was wondering if that affects my heart in a bad way, like does it stress it out to the point that i could die soon? also when i'm preagnent, will it affect me when i give birth?

I was wondering if there are any forms of birth control that totally stop your period besides the Depo shot and that one pill (I cant remember to take a pill everyday I just stopped my pill bc of it. I'm looking for another birth control so I DONT get pregnant) also I was on the shot & I did alright on the first dose of it, but after the second one I had my period for 2 months so my Dr. swiched me to the pill, but she did say another shot should fix my problem but I was too scared it wouldnt...I'm actually thinking of going back on the shot... I just want to know my options though! Thanks!!
