I cringe every time I see this thread - folks want to lose weight FAST.
According to the personal trainer at my gym, losing weight quickly is not good for your body. Chances are, you didn't gain the weight overnight or within a few weeks. Therefore, it should not come off that fast either. She used this example: let's say your current weight is 150 lbs. Your body is conditioned to synthesizing food, breathing, pumping blood, etc. with 150 lbs. worth of weight. Now, every time you lose even one pound, your body must re-program itself and re-learn how to do all of its major functions with a new amount of weight. If you want your body to function properly, give it time to catch up as you lose weight and all the while, make sure that you are giving it what it needs (such as vitamins, minerals, water and protein).

Having said that, if you have a lot of weight to lose, consult a professional. They will know the right place to start you on your journey. Some things that I found that burn a lot of fat are a good balance of weight training (muscle burns fat) and cardio exercises (getting the heart rate up). You must eat well (no junk food and empty calories) and you must be consistent.

Running with an extra sweatshirt will help you cut a couple of quick pounds. That is mainly water weight but weight none-the-less.
Beyond that, stay hydrated and do a lot of cardio. And, I don't remember where, but I had read that doing any sort of weight lifting exercise will speed up your metabolism and help cut a huge chunk of calories.
Do some light lifting and then go for a jog or bike ride.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.
