so far, no one has been successful in monitoring blood glucose without the blood, ya gotta have blood. Most of the meters out there are about the same, yes you have to poke yourself, yes you have to have strips to put into the meter once you have blood on the strip. It is expensive, very expensive. If your doctor isn't recommending it, I wouldn't do it. But, if you must, you can get the equipment you need from any drug store, the strips run about fifty dollars a month and the meters cost anywhere from 25 dollars to 250 dollars.
Did the doctor say you "failed" the glucose tolerance test? Because 142 is not all that high a number after ingesting pure sugar, at least wait for all your lab results to come back before you jump to buying a meter.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Ask your pharmacist about ketone strips. I am type 1 diabetic and test regularly using glucose machine, however my grandmother used ketone strips which uses urine and gives you a range instead of an exact number. I would recommend this until you have been officially diagnosed, then your insurance should cover testing machines and supplies. They are available at walgreens and you get 50 strips for about $10. If your sugar is high then your ketone count will be high as well. It's not exact for sugar levels but it gives you an idea. If you are diagnosed as diabetic then you and your doctor can discuss machines because the machine itself is inexpensive however the test strips are what hit your pocketbook. A lot of insurance companies will mail order your testing supplies for cheap in hopes that better control will save them money in the long run. Hope this helps.

There is a "wristwatch", and I also was told of a device you can put under your tongue, and uses non linear optic lasers to moitor a variety of blood related levels including glucose...this is still experiemental. There are some that are available overseas or that are in US Clinical trials, but as far as proven, FDA approved devices: "The GlucoWatch G2 Biographer, manufactured by Cygnus Inc., was approved to detect glucose level trends and track patterns in people with diabetes." Unfortunately, they do suggest this is used in conjunction with traditional monitoring. This disclaimer is probably more of a caution of correct usage than anything else.... Good luck!

Yes there is, it monitors your blood sugar through scanning your skin, and the problem is it is UNGODLY expensive. We parents of diabetic children would love to have this, however it is considered a "luxury" item and not a necessary one. If you have to test your blood sugar regularly, use a 33 gauge lancet...they are so small they don't hurt and you can almost not see the tip of the needle it is so fine. Use an ultra one touch meter...requres much less blood and gives you a result in five seconds. we love ours. you can get a free meter coupon from your pharmacist for it too. Good luck.
p.s.
As far as people saying "it hasn't been invented yet"...its called a glucowatch.

1. I think they are now working on something where you won't have to prick your finger to determine your blood sugar. I believe it's something like a clip-on that you just attach to a finger (like a pulse oximeter if you're familiar with that). I just don't know the update on that, sorry.
2. No particular brand is necessary. Any brand would do, and usually all have similar features nowadays.
3. Yes, you do need to buy strips for that. However, if you buy a whole kit, they usually come with the reader, lancet, and strips.
